Libertarian National Committee Rep Hinkle to campaign against Prop 14 in special election

Mark Hinkle is California’s representative to the Libertarian National Committee, and is running for LNC Chair.  He sent this email yesterday:

As you may know, Abel Maldonado was appointed Lt. Governor, thus vacating his seat in the State Senate.

So, there’s now going to be a special election to fill the remainder of his term in the 15th State Senate District.

The primary will be June 22, 2010 and the General election August 17, 2010.

Since Abel Maldonado is largely responsible for the draconian Prop 14 (Top Two), I plan to attack it at every occasion prior to the June 8th regular primary where Prop 14 will be decided by the voters.

I need 40 valid signatures, from Libertarians, in order to secure my place on the ballot.  I can turn in a maximum of 60 signatures.

Counties included in the 15th State Senate district are Santa Clara, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Luis Obispo.

If you live in these counties and specifically in the 15th State Senate district, I need your help getting the required 40 nominating signatures.  I’ve already paid the non-refundable filing fee of $952.91.

You would run his entire campaign for free? That is very generous…

Good man. Contact me. I’d be glad to run a PLAS campaign for you. I assume you would like to win.
