Maine Independent Greens honor activist after his death

The Independent Green Party is the Maine affiliate of the national Green Party.  From the Bangor Daily News:

Members of Maine’s Green Independent Party will gather in Greene this weekend for an annual convention dedicated to the memory of a Deer Isle resident and party leader who died recently.

Jack Harrington, 63, served on the Green Independent Party’s steering committee and was a delegate to the national party. An Army and Navy veteran and a retired federal employee, Harrington was also active in numerous Deer Isle-area civic and community service organizations, including Deer Isle Grange 296 and Hospice of Hancock County as well as the national organization Veterans for Peace…

Harrington will be honored posthumously with the “Green of the Year” award this Saturday during the party’s annual state convention, to be held at the Androscoggin Grange in Greene.

“Trumpka’s speech is good, only two pieces that I take issue with. First, health care. He says it joins the great pieces of legislation. It is rubbish. Too bad he does not know that, for whatever reason.

Second, he still seems to cling to the idea that the Democrats will be the savior of labor. He needs to wake up to the fact that the Democrats have betrayed labor and the working American as thoroughly as the Republicans have, all in a drive to get their hands on corporate money.

Trumpka and the rest of union leadership need to lay out a new paradigm, one in which their support goes not to either wing of the Democratic party, but to a new party which does not seek, nor owe, corporate largess.

So find a party, such as the Green Party, which will restore legal supports for labor, which will level the playing field for wage earners, and which will create a better life for most middle or lower class Americans.

We need change-but change from the Democrats.”

“So people still believe in Obama? The master of the bait and switch con? No public option. Shocked. Shocked, I tell you.

And most of us don’t want the public option-that was the bait and switch to get single payer out of the way.

    Smell the coffee brewing?”

Don, Is it really that hard to just post a link with a short description of what the link is, instead of these apparently random pieces of different articles and comments, with what I assume are some of your thoughts somewhere in there?
