Iowa: Independent Narcisse Calls for Tax Cut on Hourly Wages

From Radio Iowa via TPID:

An independent candidate for governor is proposing a tax break for Iowa workers who are paid by the hour. Jonathan Narcisse says the state should only collect income taxes on 40-hours of work per week, an idea inspired by a recent stop he made at Hardee’s.

“It was about 3:22 a.m. and the young lady who waited on me had to be at her second job at 8 a.m.,” Narcisse says. “Why are we requiring her to pay taxes after 40 hours when she could use that money more than the Google millionaires in Council Bluffs or the Bill Gates’ Microsoft?”

There are a lot of opportunities for independent voters to have a big impact again this November.Coming off our historic open primary victory, we’re now well positioned as THE organization of independent voters in California.

There’s a new Redistricting Reform fight. Prop 20 expands the reform we passed in 2008 to include Congressional Districts. Prop 27, put on the ballot by the party insiders, would give the power back to the parties.

To keep moving this state forward, we need you to get involved. We need people to step up across the state – and every last person matters immensely. If you’ve been thinking about this, now is definitely the time.

    Independently yours,

    Jason Olson

What the heck is the deal with that sloppy cut and paste comment job?

This guy it out of touch with reality. I would LOVE to think otherwise, as I live literally three miles from the Iowa border, am a hard core independent and was looking into his campaign to potentially sign up to help them organize their campaign in Council Bluffs, where I’ve done some grassroots work in the past and is just on the other side of the Misscouri from where I live… but then I actually read about the guy.

This proposal he’s come up with is classic undeliverable empty promises. Even more so, its outlandish and clearly impossible.

This cut on work over 40 hours is just the tip of the iceburg of things he promises couldn’t deliver on in this announcement… if he somehow was able to get elected. I could ramble on, but I outlined how he’s selling a bunch of snake oil in a post on my blog three days ago:

Lake, keeping independents off the November ballot is no victory, so I would stay far away from passing on anything from this group.

Yes, Don Lake, part of the unholy triumverate of insanity along with Robert Milnes, and myself/my other personalities.
