I have driven highway 98 from Jackpot to Vegas more than once and I have often thought that drive is like being a Libertarian. Its damn beautiful in many place, but it is also long and desolate and in the winter when it snows it can be dangerous. When the snow stops you get up the next morning the desert has bloomed and it is beautiful.
But when the road comes to a mountain you don’t try to go through it. You go around it.
When we come to an obstacle we need to go around and not waste time battering our heads against a wall. It is frustrating to accept, but that’s what works best and I say that from experience having to fight these people for years.

Wayne makes his living by fooling/conning people. That’s what he does. It’s his definition of “business.” It’s why he’s a pariah even in an industry (gambling) not widely lauded for its high standard of business ethics.
Let him own his scams and the results of those scams. Shifting responsibility for a con from the perpetrator to the victim accomplishes nothing except enabling the perpetrator toward his next con.

While I don’t think this is antithetical to freedom per se, it sounds like a bad idea anyway. I find it difficult to believe that state party officers can suddenly decide to dissolve every county party in this state. Is this really the case?
Someone might want to do some reading, but it is not necessarily how you run a business.
If my recall cap is working I seem to remember this outfit called Whole Foods. I think you guys may know them. Seems they give their local teams a lot of freedom ( sorry to use that word) in how they run the local operations.

Why not try to concentrate and centralize as much power as possible, if that gives you a freer hand in running things?

I’m sure I miss the nuance in NV, but while I can imagine a state LP would operate more effectively in a centralized manner, doing so in this manner is poor form. Alienating ain’t a great way to make friends.

I’d rather they take their time. I’m rather enjoying the resolution being non-binding due to incompleteness at the moment.
On Thursday, May 5th I sat in on a conference call where the Libertarian Party of Nevada, with recent addition of Wayne Allyn Root, voted to take their functioning counties and dissolve them, merging them in with the state.
This is the exact opposite of what a state party should be trying to do. I would suggest it is the opposite of liberty. There is no logical reason to believe it is a good idea from a political stand point,or from a party stand point. I can only imagine that those people who are behind this believe it will give them more control. Obviously that is antithetical to freedom.
The bylaws of the Nevada Party state “Members voting to revoke affiliate status must state their reasons in writing.” They seem to have bypassed this, I would argue that they should have to do that for each county. This mass dissolution is a travesty.
No one would speak for the motion, though a few people spoke against, yet the cowards voted for it without defending it.
For the record, they wouldn’t even allow some good faith observers to chime in. Unfortunately for Libertarian Party members in Nevada it seems they would be better off joining the storm trooper party.
If Libertarians across the country do not speak out about this loudly, you will continue to see members of the “43 laws of Power” gang, Rutherford, Root etc, try to rig these types of things across the Country.

Wayne Root voted to eliminate all local organizations in the state of Nevada in a move to “consolidate” the LPNV to create a more “cohesive” state party. Needless to say, this is not only counterproductive to the goal of expanding LP activities in the state of Nevada, it’s even counterproductive to the goal of expanding Wayne Root’s support in the state. This is a classic example of cutting off his nose to spite his face.

Debra – AKA – LG, better to learn now than later. As the old saying goes “keep your powder dry”, a good plan is to support ALL LP POTUS candidates that are “preaching” the Libertarian messages we like in 2011, then narrow our choice next year (’12) before the convention.
These candidates who “sound” libertarian are spreading the LP message and helping the cause from now until they are eliminated at the convention. Why not support them now ? Oppose the people using anti-libertarian policies and dirty POLITICS ! This is my plan and I hope others will agree.
Each Libertarian should help these candidates get interviews when possible. Local media is much better than NO media. Please help the LP POTUS candidates as much as you can both financially and in media coordination !
There is enough negativity being used in the LP now to destroy it. People promoting libertarianism doesn’t need the negative, they deserve positive. The NON-libertarian shills should be receiving ALL the negativity !
Everyone must be open to the possible facts of the infiltration of the Libertarian movement by enemy agents, provocateurs and the creation of “controlled opposition” groups by the powers that be to wreak havoc and turmoil. To keep the movement in continual disarray and never progressing in a unified organization to complete the worthwhile goals.
