A motion has been filed by the Wagner group, asking that the lawsuit by the Reeves group be dismissed. For those of you not following the dispute, a group of men headed by Wes Wagner is currently recognized by the Oregon Secretary of State, and the Libertarian National Committee, as the “legitimate” officers of the Oregon Libertarian Party. Another group of people, headed by Tim Reeves, believe they are the true officers of the Oregon LP, and have filed suit to prove it. The latter group was seated at the National Convention in May of this year as the legitimate group of delegates. This motion to dismiss has been filed this week:

Here is the document which prompted the above response.

Well Fred, I know a former California Executive Committee member who is no longer active at any level. He used to complain that whenever he brought women to our meetings, several men would hit on them.
I haven’t seen that myself, but if he’s correct, that might have something to do with it. Just being polite can go a long way. Unfortunately, we DO seem to have a lot of people in the LP who aren’t exactly good role models when it comes to social behavior.
Studies overwhelmingly show that the dynamics of a group change when it is a mixed gender group instead of a single gender group.
Groups of men tend to be more aggressive and less empathetic than groups of women or groups with both genders well represented.
Perhaps Q is on to something.
Is the way we act alienating women from our party, and in turn making our party more aggressive–which continues the cycle by alienating women?
Libertarian women are on the endangered species list. Of course libertarians in general are on the endangered species list…
@3 I think that was meant as comic relief, which we all need some of. If it wasn’t meant as comic relief, then I have the same question!
“…was seated at the National Convention in May of this year as the legitimate group of officers…”
That’s “delegates”, not “officers”. With respect tot he party, it is considerably more relevant that the Judicial Committee found that the Wagner group is our legitimate party affiliate.
Why is their gender supposed to be relevant?
You know, I just checked, and there IS a woman’s name listed in the Reeves group. I don’t know if she’s one of the supposed officers, but I think I’d better change the wording on that. Thanks for your comment, Q.

No women in either group? I think I am starting to understand their problem, if so…
