NEWS RELEASE
September 6, 2013
This week the Steering Committee of the Constitution Party of Oregon
voted to join the National Alliance of Independent American Parties. It did so
in order to further the purpose of that Alliance, to wit, “to provide all voters
registered or associated with its affiliated parties in the several States with a
unified vehicle to achieve three objectives: (1) to create an opportunity to
express political hopes and aspirations, (2) to develop a consensus on the
proper role and function of government based upon the American Heritage of
individual rights and responsibilities under God, and (3) to effectively channel
energy into political changes that satisfy those hopes and aspirations and
reflect that consensus by electing candidates to public office, adopting
resolutions, organizing boycotts, etc.”
Affiliate state parties in The Alliance are approved for membership (and
remain approved) based on a pledge incorporated into their governing
documents to defend the following Principles, and their nomination of
candidates pledged to the same: “(1) The Creator God in heaven, made known
to us through the Holy Scriptures, rules in the affairs of men and is the
ultimate King, Lawgiver, and Judge of all mankind. He is to be honored and
His Word is to be heeded if we expect to receive His blessing on the works of
our hands individually or corporately; (2) the Family is the first and highest
civil institution designed by God to propagate, educate, and nurture human
life. Both Church and State are to support and defend that institution; and, (3)
God has assigned the first priority of civil government to protect innocent
human life from conception to natural death, to protect freedom of conscience,
and to protect private property. This is best served by the Constitutional
Republic which our Founders gave us and which we are committed to
restore.”
The Constitution Party of Oregon looks forward to a long, productive
relationship with other Independent American Parties based on the above
Principles, as together we honor God, defend the family, and restore the
Republic.

The Constitution Party of Oregon was founded in 2000 as an affiliate of the nation Constitution Party. However, in May 2006, the party disaffiliated from the national CP, due to a conflict with the national party platform over the issue of abortion. In December 2009, the Constitution Party of Oregon had 3,021 members. The national Independent American Party was founded in 1998 and in 2012 for the first time ran a candidate for U.S. Senate in New Mexico who received 3.63% of the vote. The party also fielded a presidential ticket which garnered 4,456 votes nationwide. – KL
