Join the Party for Socialism and Liberation on Saturday, Dec. 14 for an exciting day of workshops, education and discussion on socialism—what it is, why we need it, and how we can make it a reality.
The list of workshops are designed to accommodate both experienced Marxists and people brand-new to the ideas of socialism alike. They will provide in-depth analysis and guided discussion to give everyone a better understanding of socialist ideas, and provide ways we can fight for those ideas. As the richest people in America enjoy an economic “recovery,” things continue to get worse for the rest of us. As corporate profits grow, more and more people are pushed into poverty. Today, more than 80 percent of the U.S. population are considered below the poverty line or “near poverty.”
Last year, millions of people voted to reject the right-wing agenda. But after the election, the unemployed are still unemployed; the foreclosed are still getting kicked out of their homes; the imperialist war drive abroad continues unabated; our communities still suffer racist police brutality and mass incarceration; immigrants are still scapegoated and deported; the rights of women and LGBT people still need to be defended against attack; and much more.
The problems of war, racism, poverty, and more cannot be solved by new politicians, and reforms only provide some relief on the very surface of these issues. These problems grow out of the very basis of our society–the system of capitalism.
There is an alternative–and we can fight to make it a reality. Join activists, organizers, students, workers, veterans and dozens of others struggling against the crimes of capitalism for expert panels, workshops, and discussion about the struggle ahead and how we can win a new system based on equality and meeting human need. How to get to the Winter Workshops:
Driving: The workshop venue is right off the 4th Street exit of both the 101 FWY and I-5, on S Boyle ave. between 4th and 5th streets. There is plenty of free street parking in the area.
Metro: The workshop venue is just 0.3 miles from the Mariachi Plaza Gold Line Station. Just walk South on Boyle Ave., the venue will be on your right. (See map below)
Cost: We are asking a $10 registration fee to cover the cost of the event, but nobody will be turned away for lack of funds.
