Here is the song I listened and sang almost daily in the public schools during Cultural Revolution:
“Heaven and earth, are great, but greater is the kindness of the Communist Party; Father and Mother are dear, but dearer still is Chairman Mao”.
In this old photo, my classmates and I dressed up like China’s minority Yi group performing a “Revolutionary Dance” to show love to Mao and Communist Party, thank them for saving Yi people from poverty, even though we were living in poverty on food ration coupons issued by the local government. I was the one on my knees. Look at our innocent faces and smiles. Love as a word was only used to express affection and loyalty to Mao, the Party, our motherland and communities. Romantic love was a forbidden subject. Public display of Affection toward our family members would be criticized.
We truly believed in Chairman Mao and Communist Party. Mao was like a God to me. I would see his face behind cloud taking to me. We were required to confess to Mao about our thoughts, words and behaviors that were not politically correct, even report on the others to show our unweaving loyalty.
It took me 20 years in America to totally wake up and get rid of my indoctrination from my oppressive China education. I won’t allow Common Core to do this to my child and American children. Push back and Fight now. If we lose our children to Common Core, we will lose our country.
