Following our successful training weekend in Oct. in the Washington, D.C. area, we’re pleased to be offering our second session, on February 12–14, on the shores of San Francisco Bay, California. We’ll be meeting at the Embassy Suites San Francisco Airport Waterfront, just a few minutes’ drive to the spectacular sights and sounds of San Francisco and the Golden Gate.
LP Activist Training By Libertarians, For Libertarians is a weekend of activist training designed to inspire you and give you the tools you need to be a successful Libertarian activist, candidate, campaigner, and party leader in your state.
Sponsored by the national Libertarian Party, this workshop features seasoned Libertarian experts with a proven track record of success who will show you the ropes on everything from Libertarian campaigns to public speaking, from media interviews to organizing and expanding your LP affiliate.
This training will home in on the knowledge you most need to succeed as a Libertarian activist. It will be chock-full of tips, tricks, and techniques unavailable in courses offered by Republicans and Democrats.

Our line-up of expert speakers includes:*
Carla Howell – Political Director for national LP; 3-time Libertarian candidate for statewide office. In Massachusetts, she headed 3 groundbreaking state ballot initiatives to end the income tax and slash the sales tax.
Robert Butler – Marketing & PR consultant; author of 18 Steps to Win a Local Election; Libertarian candidate for Lieutenant Governor in Texas (2014) and U.S. Senate (2012); has served as Executive Director of statewide parties in Texas and Ohio, managing over 1000 volunteers and raising over $1 million.
Michael Cloud – Author of Unlocking More Secrets of Libertarian Persuasion; 3-time LP Presidential campaign organizer; professional speechwriter and political strategist. Created and delivered nationwide his acclaimed “Art of Libertarian Persuasion” seminars, and in 2000 was honored with the Thomas Paine Award.
John Inks – Elected Libertarian; re-elected in 2012 to Mountain View City Council, where his two 4-year terms have included stints as mayor (2013) and vice mayor (2012); he also has chaired city council subcommittees, including Finance & Investment Review, and Technology, and sits on several external agency committees, such as the Santa Clara County Water Commission.
Janine Kloss – Executive Director for the LP of Sacramento County and LP of California. She is passionate about working through communities in order to change the culture of local government and beyond.
Ted Brown – Chair of LP California, a post he also held in 1988–89. He has held nearly every job in the party, including L.A. County LP chair and state newsletter editor. A 15-time Libertarian candidate, he’s also the unofficial chief recruiter for LP California, having personally signed up hundreds of LP candidates.
Elizabeth Brierly – Two decades of LP California activities including radio and TV appearances as Libertarian candidate for State Board of Equalization, serving as newsletter editor, and as campaign manager for Terry Savage for Assembly, which raised $50,000 in a 3-way race. She worked in media and public relations at the Independent Institute and consults to the national LP on newsletter, web site, and e-mail projects.
Andy Burns – State Affiliate Development Specialist for the national LP. An LP activist in Minnesota, where he served as Executive Director, he raised annual revenues, managed a 2014 statewide petitioning effort, and raised $12,000 at one event, selling LP T-shirts.
Brian Holtz – Elected Libertarian and three-time candidate for Congress; won re-election to Purissima Water District in 2012, finishing 1st in a 4-way race, on an explicitly libertarian platform. Got the city council to pass his proposed market-based alternative to the state’s onerous conservation ordinance.
And a special appearance by…
Richard Winger – Publisher and editor of Ballot Access News (founded 1985); in demand and frequent guest on radio and TV programs as the nation’s leading ballot-access expert; he was inducted to the national LP’s Hall of Liberty in 2014.
