A few questions for Augustus Invictus, Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate

Originally published at American Third Party Report on July 14th, 2016:

Augustus Invictus is a candidate seeking the Libertarian Party’s nomination for U.S. Senate in Florida, which will be decided in a statewide primary on August 30th. Max Rice asked Invictus a few a questions, exclusively for ATPR, from a (mostly) non-political perspective:

Max Rice: What is the last thing you learned?

Augustus Invictus: I am a lifelong student: I am always learning. Right now I would say my three major areas of study are strategy, the runes, and mixed martial arts.

What is the most important thing you ever learned?

How to sing. Whether it’s singing my kids to sleep, performing a ritual, or giving a speech, vocal control is key. I can’t imagine my life without having learned that.

If you could hang out with one historical figure for a day who would it be and why?

Aleister Crowley. I believe we could make history with even a mere twenty-four hours together. And if not, it would still be a hell of a time.

If elected to U.S. Senate which two senators would you least like to sit next to and why?

Rand Paul, because we already agree on most things and can talk after hours. Lindsey Graham, because I hate being hit on at work.

If elected to U.S. Senate which two senators would you most like to sit next to and why?

Bill Nelson & Bernie Sanders. One or the other would likely die of a heart attack within a week.

What is your favorite law?

Godwin’s Law

(ATPR: “As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1.” – from Wikipedia).

Who is your favorite lawyer?

Daniel Webster. He beat the Devil himself.

What are your Top 3

Fight Club

Abigail Williams
The Mars Volta

Books (fiction):

Thus Spoke Zarathustra

I know those aren’t really fiction, but that’s about as close as I can get.

What is on your mind?

I am typing this at Panera. This group of cackling old women two tables away has been railing about politics the entire time. They have just switched to talking about the Senate race. All I can think is: These are the people really running things – God help us all.
