Chuck Baldwin: For Whom Will I Vote?

Chuck Baldwin, the 2004 vice presidential nominee and 2008 presidential nominee of the Constitution Party, yesterday published the editorial below:

Let me just let everyone know right up front: I have not voted for a presidential candidate since I voted for Ron Paul in the primary election in 2012. If Darrell Castle, presidential nominee of the Constitution Party in 2016, had been on the ballot here in Montana, I would have voted for him.

And before anyone tries to put me on a guilt trip for not voting, they should know that I feel as good about myself when I don’t vote as when I do vote. I wholeheartedly agree with John Quincy Adams when he said, “Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.”

Sometimes a vote for principle requires a non-vote.

Donald Trump had four years to earn my vote in 2020, but all he did was confirm my decision to not vote for him in 2016.

It won’t do any good to review the myriad reasons I could never vote for Trump in good conscience. Over the course of Trump’s presidency, I have provided volumes of documented, well-researched and factual data in this column regarding Trump’s unfitness to be President of the United States. To the evangelicals and conservatives who believe him to be Superman (as thousands of them chanted at his latest rally), however, the truth about Donald Trump doesn’t matter one iota.

In my opinion, Trump’s vulgarities, blasphemies, duplicities, thefts, immoralities, racism, narcissism, covetousness, self-deification, misogyny, unconstitutional conduct and mass murders disqualify him from being elected dog catcher, much less President of the United States.

Trump has a lot more in common with Nietzsche’s Übermensch than with Clark Kent.
