There is an open thread. I will investigate having it pinned to the top of the list. I may also install an abortion open thread for that one topic. Discussions of abortion tend to mask discussions of the topic at hand.

Are tangential comments no longer permitted here at IPR, George? We drift off topic all the time. It doesn’t distract anyone from reading the article or prevent anyone from chiming in with a direct reply.

    We are drifting off-topic here.

Ayn Rand believed abortion morally superior to adoption and that it should be legal for any reason, pre- or post-viability, until the moment of birth. Murray Rothbard thought a parent should be able legally to starve her infant to death because children have no positive rights. So I’m not so sure looking to those two for guidance is the best idea.

This meeting will give the Libertarian National Committee a chance to boldly defend freedom, as Angele McArdle has promised. The LNC should issue a statement in response to the Supreme Court decision on Roe v Wade.

Angela McArdle can reference the new plank on body autonomy to stand up boldly for the traditional libertarian position of supporting a woman’s right to control her own body. The position has been clearly stated by Ayn Rand on numerous occasions, and by Dr Murray Rothbard in his June 1971 article in Libertarian Forum on “How to Destatize.”

Come on Angela, be Bold! in defense of freedom.. We don’t want a Libertarian Party that embarrasses those of us who care about personal freedom.
