Third Party Federal Income Compared

An IPR Analytic Report

For the country’s three visible third parties, we present Federal Elections Committee data on total receipts since the start of 2021, cash on hand at the start of the year, money received during 2022, money spent since the start of 2022, and cash on hand at the end of the “Pre-Election Period”.

As I’ve said since inception, it is impressive what the Libertarian Party national does with less income than a small-town grocery store.

My estimates/those of the now dormant Libertarian Poll Data Group were that every presidential election Billions are spent to shut the LP up.

The unusual percentage of mission-driven activists has a lot do do with it as well, of course.

Very useful data. Many thanks again, George.

Other parties I’m interested in if the data is nearby and handy:

    (national) Working Families Party
    American Solidarity Party
    Forward Party
    Movement for a People’s Party
    Alliance Party

LP vs. Green financial disparity makes sense. The Democrat Party is essentially a Green Party, so little need for funding something separate. However, the GOP is not essentially a Libertarian Party, so more need exists.

Except for 2008 and 2009, the Libertarian Party has never had less than twice the combined revenue of the Green and Constitution parties. In 2021 and 2022 the LP has had more than 8.5 x their combined revenue.

Very interesting. Thanks for finding and reporting this important factor in third party activities.
