Hi Pat – can you say a little more, with attention to Thomas Knapp’s comments?

    Angela is 100% correct.

“It is entirely possible for a state’s Libertarian Party to have no affiliation whatsoever with the LNC and to either affiliate with some other national committee or operate independently of any national committee.” – Tom Knapp

Which is exactly what the Libertarian Party of New Mexico has done which holds major party status in the state.

    Some notes:

    – McArdle is not the chair of the “National Libertarian Party (NLP).” No such entity exists. She’s the chair of the “Libertarian National Committee (LNC).”

    – The complaint seems to confusingly conflate two entity classes which need not be the same organization — the “Libertarian Party of Michigan” / “Michigan Libertarian Party” on one hand, and the Libertarian National Committee’s Michigan affiliate on the other. It is entirely possible for a state’s Libertarian Party to have no affiliation whatsoever with the LNC and to either affiliate with some other national committee or operate independently of any national committee.

    – The Libertarian Party of Michigan Executive Committee, Inc.’s amended statement of organization as filed doesn’t assert any relationship to the LNC.
