Jill Stein Wins Green Party of New York State Presidential Primary

The Green Party of New York State met in Troy over the weekend for its state convention and presidential primary, where party members overwhelmingly supported Dr. Jill Stein for the 2024 nomination.

The convention took place in person at the Sanctuary for Independent Media on Saturday, with a livestream available for members unable to attend. Members also had the option to vote by absentee ballot, provided that the ballots were postmarked by March 13, 2024. As in previous state party-held presidential primaries, the primary utilized ranked-choice voting, with delegates allocated proportionately.

According to unofficial results shared by the Green Party of New York State on X, Jill Stein won the presidential primary on the first ballot, securing the majority of its delegates to the Green Party’s Presidential Nominating Convention later this year.

A total of 62 ballots were cast, though two votes were later declared invalid. Stein earned 52 first-choice votes out of the 60 valid votes cast, followed by seven for Jasmine Sherman and one for Jorge Zavala. Additionally, the party noted that the sole Zavala voter was transferred to Stein, even though Stein had already been announced as the winner in the first round of voting.

The party reported that Stein would receive 12 delegates to the convention, with Sherman receiving one.
