Green-Rainbow Party of Massachusetts to Hold State Convention in Worcester Next Month

The Green-Rainbow Party of Massachusetts will host its annual state convention in Worcester next month. State Greens will elect national delegates and new state party leadership, discuss party priorities, and hear from guest speakers.

According to information distributed by the Green-Rainbow Party of Massachusetts, members will meet at Worcester’s First Unitarian Universalist Church for a single-day event on May 11, 2024. Party members will hear from state candidates, elect national delegates to the Green Party’s Presidential Nominating Convention later this year, and elect new leadership using ranked-choice voting. The convention will also include a portion dedicated to local party reports from chapters across the state.

The convention will include several workshops, including a discussion on diversity and inclusion led by the Massachusetts Young Greens and a film screening exploring the history of the original Chicago-based Rainbow movement. It will also feature a silent auction and guest tables from organizations like the Mass Alliance Against Predatory Lending and Sunrise Movement Amherst, a local movement focused on climate issues.

Keynote speakers for the convention include NuclearBan.US Co-founder Vicki Elson and Executive Director Timmon Wallis, who is also the author of Warheads to Windmills: Preventing Climate Catastrophe and Nuclear War. There will be an opportunity for audience questions. Jason Tait, a guest speaker from the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance, will also address questions surrounding campaign finance. Readers can find more information on the Green-Rainbow Party of Massachusetts website.
