Independent Kennedy Jr.-Shanahan Ticket Secures Michigan Ballot Access with Natural Law Party Nomination

The Natural Law Party of Michigan nominated independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his running mate Nicole Shanahan, according to an announcement made on Thursday. With the party’s nomination, Kennedy now has ballot access in nine states.

In a press release shared on the Kennedy campaign’s website, the ticket announced news of the nomination, stating that the Natural Law Party of Michigan had filed all the necessary documents with the state. Readers can view the full press release on Kennedy’s campaign site.

“He’s the most qualified candidate in the modern-day history of America,” Natural Law Party Chairman Doug Dern is quoted as saying in the release. “We welcome Mr. Kennedy and Ms. Shanahan to the party.”

According to the Kennedy campaign’s Ballot Access HQ map, Michigan marks Kennedy’s ninth state with ballot access for the 2024 election, along with New Hampshire, Hawaii, North Carolina, Iowa, Nebraska, Idaho, Nevada, and Utah.

The Natural Law Party was founded in 1992 and is rooted in the principles of transcendental meditation and Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s teachings. In its first three presidential elections, it nominated Dr. John Hagelin. By the mid-2000s, many of its state affiliates ceased operations. However, the Natural Law Party of Michigan continues to operate and nominate state and presidential candidates each election cycle, frequently supporting other national third party and independent presidential candidates.
