The Nevada Green Party has submitted almost 30,000 signatures to state election officials in a bid to qualify for the 2024 presidential election ballot. If successful, it would be the first time since 2008 that the Green Party presidential ticket would appear on the Nevada ballot.
According to a letter from the Nevada Secretary of State to county clerks first shared by the Nevada Independent, the Nevada Green Party submitted 29,557 signatures, more than doubling the number of signatures needed to qualify for the ballot. Earlier reporting on petitioning from late May shared by the Green Party indicated that the Nevada affiliate had already collected a smaller 20,000 of the necessary 10,095 signatures needed.
“This office is in receipt of the Petition Raw Counts, noting submissions totaling 29,584 signatures and more than the required number of signatures in each petition district in the Petition for the Nevada Green Party Minor Party Ballot Access,” the letter reads. “Pursuant to NRS 293.1277(1), notice is hereby given that the total number of signatures submitted is greater than the signatures required.”
If the Nevada Green Party is successful in its efforts to qualify for the ballot, Nevada voters will see a Green Party presidential candidate on their ballot for the first time since 2008, when the party ran former Georgia Representative Cynthia McKinney. No Green Party nominee was successful in appearing on the Nevada ballot in the following three election cycles, nor could they file as write-in candidates.
The letter further states that county clerks have until today, June 4, to complete the signature verification process. Notably, the letter incorrectly lists June 4, 2024, as a Monday.

Good for them. These Ballot statutes are a disgrace.
