Green Party of Alaska Nominates Jasmine Sherman for 2024 Presidential Run

The Green Party of Alaska recently nominated Jasmine Sherman as its presidential nominee ahead of the general election. It’s expected that the party also selected Sherman’s running mate, Tanda Blubear, as the party’s vice-presidential choice.

In a video uploaded by the Green Party of Alaska last week featuring a 30-second clip of Sherman accepting the nomination, Sherman says that she is humbled and grateful and looks forward to running with the party’s support.

“My name is Jasmine Sherman, and I have just accepted the nomination for the Alaskan Green Party, and I am so humbled and grateful,” Sherman states in the clip. “Alaska is a beautiful state with beautiful people and an even more beautiful landscape. I am so excited to serve the people of Alaska, and I am grateful for this opportunity. It has been a wonderful experience earning this nomination, and I am excited to make sure we take it to the White House.”

According to the Alaska Division of Election’s website, the Green Party of Alaska is a recognized political group in the state, meaning that to appear on the ballot, Sherman will need to file at least 3,614 valid signatures by the August 7 deadline.

Editorial note: An earlier version of this article incorrectly referred to the Alaska Division of Elections’ website as that of Alaska’s Secretary of State. Alaska does not have a Secretary of State. Political groups are also not guaranteed ballot access like recognized and limited parties. Sherman will need at least 3,614 valid signatures to appear on the ballot. Thanks to Scott Kohlhaas for providing this clarification.

It’s worth noting that the Green Party of Alaska is not affiliated with the Green Party of the United States, which Sherman has also sought the nomination of during this election cycle. In 2020, the Alaska affiliate refused to place the Green Party ticket of Howie Hawkins and Angela Nicole Walker on the ballot, instead opting to run a draft ticket of Jesse Ventura and Cynthia McKinney. The party was ultimately decertified by the national party the following year, which has not yet recognized a new state affiliate.

At least the Alaska No Labels Party and its congressional candidate admit that they are performance art.

Add this: I clicked the “Party” link on Hucksterman. “Not available.” Shortened URL to the home page. Not available.

They DO have a new FB group, entitled: “The Sherman/BluBear’s Green Party of Alaska Group,” presumably having deleted the old.

Either Scott or somebody else contacted these people. (Oh, they have TWELVE members! I am BluBear Woman, hear me ROAR!)

Scott, thanks here, too. I didn’t think to check, knowing they’d been decertified in 2021, as to whether they’re an actual party or not.

Right now, they’re performance theater. Shock me.

Hey, Scott! Thanks for the clarification. I’ve since updated the article and added a source back to the presidential filing packet.

First of all, Alaska does not have a Secretary of State. Also, a “political group” in Alaska does not have ballot status. The GP in AK would have to collect 3614 valid signatures to place Jasmine Sherman’s name on the ballot. I seriously doubt that will happen.

The logo is nice “they tried to bury us not knowing we were seeds.” I like that, irrespective of politics. Otherwise, what Socraric, Reality, and Tebas said all rings true.

@SocraticGadfly if she is a “vanity candidate” then it makes sense why she is not concurring with either Jill Stein or the minor socialist candidates. I amuse myself thinking what could be this “water vortex implosion system” that Zavala guy wants…

A bigot, a bigot, a bigot, and a clueless bigot. Don’t need to bother typing bigot none more times.

You’re right. It’s called the tyranny of small differences. The nonduopoly middle, far right, and libertarians are all afflicted with it too. Among libertarians, it’s getting worse quickly. But the nonduopoly left is famous for it, and has been for a long time.

Is there a relevant ideological difference between Jasmine Sherman and Jill Stein? In a certain way this division only hurts the (almost zero) electoral chance of both. The same could be said for the plethora of Socialist Something Parties, although these guys could fight to the death (in X/Twitter…) for the difference between their favored strain of communism… To be the big fish in the smallest ponds of the far, far left

Yoda, before becoming old and wise?

The first sentence is completely true. I’m not sure how the nomination of a breakaway minor party state chapter for potus conceivably serves the people of Alaska. Gratitude and wonderful experiences are awesome. I don’t see how being on the ballot in one state with three electors and googleplex to one chances against winning those let’s anyone ensure they can take anything to the white house, except as part of a guided tour.

But, I’m excited that she’s excited. Good luck. Trump will win Alaska easily. I hope she does well. If she comes in ahead of Biden, that would be great. I doubt she’ll come in ahead of Kennedy, but you never know.

A socialist, racist, sexist, climate hysteric, Gen Z, non-binary, queer, trans-gender, they/them, morbidly obese – sorry, I mean “disabled” – social justice warrior… It’s like this creature is trying to condense everything that ails our country into a single ball. A worthy successor for Jesse Ventura then. Perhaps Tom Hoefling has even met his match finally.
It was the “popular winner” of the previous Free & Equal presidential debate against Lars Mapstead, Chase Oliver, Jill Stein and Claudia de la Cruz by the way; and despite how terrible they all were, it still managed to be by far the worst – hence the “popular winner” apparently – so brace yourselves for the upcoming Free & Equal presidential debate at FreedomFest, the Friday after next.
