The Green Party announced on Tuesday that Margaret Kimberley, Executive Director of Black Agenda Report, will keynote the party’s Presidential Nominating Convention in August.
According to an advisory sent to Independent Political Reportby the Green Party’s Media Committee, Kimberley will speak on Saturday, August 17, before Green Party delegates are expected to select the party’s presidential nominee. The advisory also notes that the chosen presidential nominee will hold a press conference following the nomination, hosted on a separate Zoom conference line.
In addition to being the Executive Director of the Black Agenda Report, a commentary and analysis website from the perspective of the Black left, Kimberley is also the host of the Report’s accompanying podcast, a published author, and a member of the State Committee of the Green Party of New York.
“The Green Party is again proving itself to be indispensable as the duopoly parties collude on austerity, war, and ecological assaults,” Kimberley is quoted in the advisory. “The people are told to support massive defense budgets, genocides, their own immiseration, cop cities, and climate change caused by fossil fuel production. Only the Green Party provides voters with a pathway for change and for the very survival of humanity.”
The Green Party’s Presidential Nominating Convention will be held remotely from August 15 to August 18 via Zoom. The party also notes that specific details for all events are subject to change; however, information on such changes will be disbursed ahead of time.
The Libertarian National Convention was a circus in which the tent caught fire. The Republican National Convention was somehow even worse. The Democratic National Convention is bound to partake in this race to the bottom. And now it seems the Green Party National Convention just can’t resist putting in a bid as well. What a country.
