Pirate Party-endorsed Vermin Supreme Seeks Ballot Access in Tennessee and Louisiana

Vermin Supreme, whose presidential campaign was formally endorsed by the Pirate Party earlier this year, is actively working toward securing ballot access in two states, according to recent information he shared on social media.

Speaking in front of a live audience of approximately 100 viewers on Saturday night, Supreme announced via TikTok LIVE that his campaign is collecting signatures to appear on the Tennessee ballot. He mentioned to viewers during the live session that his running mate in Tennessee would be John Realz. To qualify for the ballot in Tennessee as an independent, Supreme must collect 275 valid signatures before the August 15 deadline. He will also need to include Realz’s signature and the information of 11 electors, including one from each of Tennessee’s nine congressional districts, when filing his nominating petitions.

This coincides with information first shared by Supreme last week on X, where he stated that, in addition to Tennessee, he is also collecting donations to appear on the Louisiana state ballot. Supreme did not mention a vice presidential candidate at that time nor during his live session; however, Realz later confirmed on social media that he will be listed as Supreme’s running mate in the states where the ticket appears. Furthermore, he hinted that the campaign is also seeking ballot access in additional, unannounced states.

Editorial note: This article has been updated to reflect the correct spelling of John Realz’s name, as well as additional information shared by Realz over social media.

In contrast, Louisiana has a markedly higher petitioning requirement for ballot access, with 5,000 valid signatures necessary by the August 23 deadline for independent presidential candidates. Alternatively, Supreme can qualify for the Louisiana ballot by paying a $500 filing fee before the same deadline.

If it’s 5000 sigs or $500, why wouldn’t anyone just pay the $500?

I hear his electors are Henry Morgan, Jean and Pierre Lafitte, Edward Teach, François l’Olonnais, Stede Bonnet, Calico Jack Rackham, Black Bart Roberts, William Kidd, Roc Brasiliano, and Black Sam Bellamy, and his running mate is Jack Sparrow. /s
