A campaign ad produced by the Constitution Party’s presidential nominee, Randall Terry, recently aired on national television, drawing media attention for its use of graphic imagery related to abortion during a commercial break on The View.
The ad, titled “Stupid Celebrities, Lying Journalists,” reportedly aired on national television last week. It is one of nearly a dozen 30-second spots first produced by the Terry campaign earlier this year, covering topics such as abortion, the Black community, and criticisms of the Democratic Party, among others.
“I’m so sick of stupid celebrities and lying journalists,” Terry says in the ad, which opens with a collage of prominent media figures, including Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Wolf Blitzer, Dana Bash, and Whoopi Goldberg—one of the co-hosts of The View. “Why don’t you fools follow the science?”
As Terry continues to narrate, he pivots to discussing abortion, as the collage transitions to an image of a newborn and then to depictions of aborted fetuses. He compares the celebrities shown earlier to Nazi officials Joseph Goebbels and Leni Riefenstahl, criticizing them for their views on abortion and comparing the procedure to murder. The ad then closes with a swipe at Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.
Since airing, the ad has garnered national media attention, prompting discussions from some platforms about the use of Federal Communications Commission-approved political advertising as a strategic way to push messaging of certain subjects. Under current FCC regulations, broadcast stations are prohibited from “censoring or rejecting political ads that are paid for and sponsored by legally qualified candidates.”
According to Entertainment Weekly, ABC issued a warning before airing the commercial ad, stating: “The following is a paid political advertisement, and the ABC Television Network is required to carry it by federal law. The advertisement contains scenes that may be disturbing to children. Viewer discretion is advised.”
A variation of this warning was also broadcast by numerous ABC affiliates or addressed by their editorial boards, each providing similar explanations.
Previous statements from the Terry campaign indicated that the ads were partly funded with support from Republican donors seeking to influence key battleground states and potentially sway the election against then-Democratic nominee President Joe Biden. The campaign said that it also received financial backing from former Texas Congressman and Republican Majority Leader Tom DeLay, who publicly endorsed the initiative in April.
In addition to airing on The View, the Terry campaign stated on its website that it is also attempting to run its ads on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

My view of Chuck Baldwin is similar to my views of Shiva Ayyadurai and Michael Rectenwald: they all have (many) sensible things to say, which they then completely undermine with their hypocritical antisemitism.
For example, from a libertarian perspective, Baldwin’s support for Ron Paul, Cliven Bundy and the Oath Keepers is commendable. And his desire to abolish the IRS, FDA and Department of Education, to severely cripple the CIA and Department of State, while perhaps not going far enough, should be music to every libertarian’s ears, just like his desire to recouple the dollar to the gold standard and to reaffirm state’s right to secede.
But then he turns around and denies Israel its right to self-determination and self-defense. He says peaceful Zionism is far more dangerous to US interests than Islamic terrorism. He blames Israel for all woes in the world in general and in the US in particular. He pretends the moral bankruptcy and degeneracy of the west are somehow the product of Judaism which condemns them.
He accuses the Jews of orchestrating the Russian 1917, Iranian 1979, Libyan 2011 and Syrian 2011 revolutions, all of which aimed to replace the legitimate government with one that actively waged genocide against Jews. He perpetuates antisemitic blood libels and falsely accuses tolerant Israel of being a “fascist and communist apartheid state”, while simultaneously making the “Palestinian” nazi terrorists and occupiers out as innocent victims of the Jews.
And he attempts to justify his arch-hypocrisy with appeals to dispensationalist theology which even most other dispensationalists recognize as illogical and/or heretical.
I think the American Independence Party did the right thing when they split with the Constitution Party and ran the pro-Israel Alan Keyes-Wiley Drake ticket for the 2008 presidential election, instead of the Chuck Baldwin-Darrell Castle. In fact, I would go even further and say that they should have split four years earlier when the CP nominated Baldwin as vice presidential candidate.
Unfortunately, since the 2008 election, the AIP has only run bad to terrible tickets, whereas the CP returned to running decent to good tickets.
