Forward Party Announces Support for More Than 100 Candidates Across Multiple Political Parties

The Forward Party recently finalized its list of 2024 candidate endorsements, announcing in an email on Monday that it is backing over 100 candidates running either under the Forward Party or as members of other political parties.

In addition to the announcement, the party provided a list of the endorsed candidates, where they’re running, and their partisan affiliations. It also included details for a Zoom event held that same evening, featuring some of the Forward Party-specific candidates discussing why they’re involved with the organization. The event was hosted by Forward Party CEO Lindsey Williams Drath and co-founder Andrew Yang.

“We are proud to support Forwardists, Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and anyone else running for office who is as committed to our core principles and democracy reform efforts as we are,” the included list stated.

The list shows that the party is fielding nearly a dozen candidates under its own Forward Party ballot line in a handful of states, most notably Utah, Pennsylvania, and Colorado. Additionally, it is backing almost two dozen independents and a handful of candidates in nonpartisan races. The party is also supporting a significant number of Democratic and Republican candidates, many of whom are running for statewide and legislative offices.

The Forward Party has also endorsed several candidates from other third parties, including two Libertarian Party candidates in legislative races in South and North Carolina, two United Utah Party candidates—one running for Attorney General and another for the state legislature—and one Alliance Party candidate for Congress in South Carolina.

Notably, while the Forward Party stated it endorsed over 100 candidates in its email, the list provided accounts for only 82 of them.

Fusionism by another name. Even tho I don’t necessarily agree with the philosophy, program and objectives of the Forward Party, I applaud the Forward Party for its creative strategy that reaches out beyond its core membership. We will set if they have hit upon an effective strategy for 3rd parties.
