Green Nominee Jill Stein Addresses 2024 Campaign Challenges and Policy Priorities in Reddit AMA

Green nominee Dr. Jill Stein participated in a Reddit AMA on Tuesday, discussing various topics related to her campaign and fielding user questions about her views on the United States, a previous presidential bid, and the Green Party itself.

Stein hosted her AMA on the subreddit r/politics that afternoon, where she received well over 2,000 questions and comments from Reddit users. Questions addressed by Stein included her perspective on the greatest threat to the United States, how her platform differs from those of Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump, and how she plans to implement key campaign policies, including affordable healthcare, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and voting reforms like the adoption of ranked-choice voting.

Stein also discussed her campaign’s challenges with ballot access, particularly in Ohio, where her team recently filed a lawsuit to ensure that her votes would still be counted. When pressed what Ohio supporters should do about the possibility of votes being invalidated, Stein dismissed their concerns, stating she expects the issue to be resolved before the election.

“We are on the ballot in Ohio! Rest assured that as long as you choose the option that says “Stein”, you’ll be voting for us!” she stated. “There are some technicalities being resolved regarding the VP name listed on the ballot, but we fully expect those issues to be resolved in time for the election.”

Beyond her current campaign, Stein also shared her views on growing the Green Party and its electoral viability, her thoughts on the events of January 6 and the role of then-President Donald Trump, and her experience with her campaign’s election recount efforts following the 2016 presidential election, including examples of where voting infrastructure was changed as a result.

    Again with the anyway

I’ve seen you say thus thousands of times and seen myself and any number of others give reasons why that makes insufficient difference so what would be the point of going over it yet again? It’s also a completely separate point from what was discussed earlier so how are you relating the two besides “anyway” meaning apparently “ignore what anyone says in between.my repetitive formulaic mantralike cut and paste chants” ..

    “Anyway”

IMO, the best outcome of electoral politics under our present Constitution is divided government, where one party controls one blanch, and another party has control over a different branch (what some folks deride as “gridlock”) in this situation, one of two things will happen:

    1. if there are serious problems recognized by serious leaders in all parties, then serious efforts will be made to find consensus solutions, or
    2. nothing will happen, and the status quo will hold.

This is kind of what Madison said would be the case in Federalist #10.

Anyway, this is why our Constitution is superior to any parliamentary system. The chance of one party getting total control is lower.

Contrafactual not contractual if it wasn’t obvious from context , as if anyone even bothered to read that or should , LOL

    Anyway

It is, however why electoral politics in any way shape or form will never provide good solutions no matter what .

Too many people just assume this that and the other and the lowest common denominator is the invariable end result no matter what way you look at if –

    Any way

As for using electoral politics against itself – people have been trying to reinvent or perfect that same flat tire for over half a century just with the l.p. alone so I can only wish I could in good conscience wish those of you still at it good luck – wish me good luck in breaking myself of the idiocy that I should keep paying any attention at all to y’all or the contractual delusion that I’m even capable of persuading anyone to reach conclusions it took decades of beating my own head against the same walls to reach.

    As if.

My actual powers of persuasion are at best nonexistent realistically speaking and it is not as if I don’t already know that – the rest of you geniuses , well , idk

    Anyway ..

Sorry for frustrated tone. It’s not like I didn’t already know that these kinds of discussions can’t be taken seriously. It’s not like I didn’t learn that the hard way well before this point. It’s not like regardless of what way shape or form I don’t find myself back in the same recognizable ruts chasing good time and effort after bad endlessly against botlike humans chanting slogans – he who makes a bot of himself gets rid of the pain of being a human, so to speak .

None of which is an insult except at myself, believe it or not. The insult to myself is well deserved, so further insults from others will be of no consequence, but shoot your beast shot if it makes you feel better, provides some utility of some sort to you or whatever , it’s all good , nothing will insult me as much as I deserve to be insulted (I can’t say insult my intelligence since no signs of such a thing exist any longer) and if you’re creative about it – few ever bother – could even be amusing

Better yet be smarter than me and don’t even waste your time. Whatever , choose your own adventure and apparently I keep choosing the same stupid one. Doh.

    Anyway.

Wow. Did you think people failed to comprehend your mantra just because not everyone agrees with you about your prediction of a number of other things realized or not baked into your oversimplified analysis and left unexamined intentionally or not regardless of how many times and places they have been brought up before?

    Anyway

Nothing like actually thinking discussion and questioning when repeatedly chanting slogans Jonestown style can be so much easier and apparently the goal of mist folks here?

    Anyway

    LOL

My REAL point is for swing states, like Michigan, to adopt some sort of run-off voting. If anyone carries Michigan by less than 50%, the election will be pretty muddled.

  8. Reality October 10, 2024

That’s about as clear as mud. People who spend a lot of time on these blogs tend to think the average voter is highly ideological or issue positions cluster oriented like they are but in the real world that’s often not the case.

Many votes are based on things like perceived likeability, single issues, incumbent party vs all others (by that standard Trump and Stein would be competing for the nonincumbent pile with others), and many other reasons for voting one way, another, or as in my case not at all , etc. , besides whatever passes for “left” or “right” currently.

Some people will see the name Stein, think Jewish and identify that as pro Israel not knowing that is actually not her position , if Israel is an issue they care about (for example many evangelicals care about Israel based on their interpretation of scripture). Ware is a Muslim but his name doesn’t jump out at you as a Muslim name so how many people would know that given that he is very little known. A lot of people feel strongly about one side or the other of that conflict – not just people who are Muslims or Arabs or Jews themselves – yet know little or nothing about Stein and Ware.

I’ve read a couple of theories which sounded not impossible about how Nader and other past tickets identified as leftist actually helped not hurt the Democrats and their tickets – ask Mr Winger as he would likely remember the details much better than I do.

  9. Walter Ziobro October 10, 2024

Her most likely accomplish will be to throw the election to Trump by drawing Muslim votes away from Harris, particularly in Michigan.
