The Libertarian Party of New York has issued a strongly worded resolution condemning actions by Libertarian National Committee Chair Angela McArdle, accusing her of undermining core Libertarian Party principles and harming its credibility.
The resolution, republished by Third Party Watch over the weekend, outlines various allegations against McArdle, including perceived favoritism toward non-Libertarian candidates, conflicts of interest, and disregard for the decisions of party delegates. While it is unclear when the resolution was formally adopted, the party’s Outreach Director recently stated that a copy was sent to members of the Libertarian National Committee.
Specific grievances include her purported collaboration with the Trump campaign and prioritization of “another party’s agenda” over the Libertarian Party’s 2024 presidential and vice presidential nominees, Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat. Additionally, the party makes reference to financial dealings with organizations tied to former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., raising concerns about conflicts of interest and McArdle’s involvement with one such group.
The resolution also accuses McArdle of retaliating against a duly elected Libertarian National Committee member who worked on ballot access for Oliver’s campaign—likely a reference to National Secretary Caryn Ann Harlos’ submission of a nomination certificate to the Colorado Secretary of State’s office. According to the resolution, such actions have contributed to a “culture of corruption and unprofessionalism” that alienates principled libertarians and deters new supporters.
In her alleged response, also published by Third Party Watch, McArdle reacted sharply to the resolution, defending her focus on broader objectives, such as “trying to get another libertarian political prisoner freed,” while dismissing the party’s criticisms.
The resolution concludes with a call for immediate corrective action, including McArdle’s resignation or removal as Chair if concerns are not addressed. The New York affiliate emphasized its commitment to the Libertarian Party’s core values and stated that it “vehemently opposes and disavows the actions of the LNC and direction of the National Libertarian Party,” though it did not indicate any plans to disaffiliate. Additionally, it requested Pat Ford, the Region Representative for New York on the Libertarian National Committee, to formally present the resolution and advocate for “prompt and meaningful remedies[.]”
The Libertarian Party of New York included in the resolution that it felt compelled to act due to the perceived damage caused under McArdle’s leadership. Among the cited reasons were maintaining donor trust, protecting state party integrity, ensuring candidate confidence, and preserving credibility with voters. This marks the second such resolution issued by the New York affiliate since the 2024 election addressing internal challenges within the national Libertarian Party stemming from that election cycle.

Uh huh.
As a NYLP founder, wake me up when the NYLP gets 100 then preferably 600 (10 to 30 per 1 million pop or so) people in local/non-partisan office and has a direct-democracy process on the state Constitution then going for eliminating state income tax and taxes on small homesteads, ballot access discrimination, and opaque records as in Florida. That is how we defined libertarian-directionism which is the LP political mission since forever.
Chase Oliver has credentials and experience? In what world? Openly supporting lockdowns? Openly supporting censoring of speech? Openly supporting sex changes for little kids?
LPNY is mad their horrible candidate didn’t have enough support to get on the ballot. Not Angela’s fault.
The Libertarian Party of New York is on target, exposing the damage that Angela McArdle has done to The Libertarian Party.
In 2016, The Libertarian Party ran candidates that had credentials and experience. The ticket raised more campaign funds than any previous LP ticket,
received more free publicity than any previous LP ticket, and received more vote than an previous LP national ticket.
After two years of Angela McArdle’s leadership, the Libertarian Party has lost alot of the momentum we gained by being pro-capitalist opponents of Donald Trump’s mixed-economy statism. Angela McArdle has worked to undo the progress we made in 2016.
She has taken public positions that have alienated real libertarians and limited government conservatives. She is allied with the Caucus that eliminated the LP’s pro-freedom platform planks on Abortion and Immigration. She is allied with Caucus members that openly supported Donald Trump despite his stands on immigration and abortion, and despite his past as a mixed-economy parasite. She has tried to ally The Libertarian National Committee with Communists and others who support Russian military aggression.
The sooner we move beyond Angela and the Caucus, the sooner we can pick up the pieces and make The Libertarian Party a standard bearer for freedom again.
And don’t pay attention to kooks- who don’t understand Libertarianism and don’t care for freedom. We can do better than Angela McArdle, and we need to organize an effective opposition to those who would neutralize the Libertarian movement because they are allied with the MAGA-Ts.
“According to the resolution, such actions have contributed to a ‘culture of corruption and unprofessionalism’ that alienates principled libertarians and deters new supporters.”
Well the LPNY would certainly know all about that. They have more experience contributing to a culture of corruption and unprofessionalism that alienates principled libertarians and deters new supporters than most (all?) other LP state affiliates put together!
“In her alleged response, also published by Third Party Watch, McArdle reacted sharply”
Oh, come on. It’s a good response regardless of whether it’s genuine, so let’s do it justice by including it in full:
“No one gives a fuck. I didn’t attend your stupid meeting because I’m trying to get another libertarian political prisoner freed this evening. Too bad you can’t do anything except pass retarded resolutions.”
Well said, Angela – or whoever – very well said indeed!
“The resolution concludes with a call for immediate corrective action, including McArdle’s resignation or removal as Chair if concerns are not addressed.”
That’s great. I’m calling for the immediate resignation or removal of Harlos, Redpath, Nekhaila, Nanna, Darr, Thompson, Johnson and Weir from the National Committee; the immediate resignation or removal of of Seebeck, Kinsella, Montoni, Latham, Stratton and Tarnoff from the Judicial Committee; the immediate resignation or removal of Whitmer, Costello, Kolstee, Haywood, Skelly, Axinn, Carman, Purtell, Geraci, Grindle, Rocco, Braiman, Anderson, Botsford, Redhead, Schmidt, other Thompson, Davis, Morgan, Popkin, O’Conner, Newell, Ellithorpe, Healy, Remian, DeGrand, Giullianelli, Leatherman, Fitch, Nunes, Olenski, Penner. Colwell, Hordeski, Gately, Becker, other Becker, Bradley, Phelan, Smith, Ziobro, Pelletier, van de Walker, Roggen, Ayala, Law, Morlock, Cocomello, Donnelly, Greibesland, Vondras, Denecke, Gunther, Ostrowski, Schuon, same Tarnoff, other Tarnoff, Padget, Clifton, Olvera, Weinblatt from the LPNY State Committee; and the immediate, perpetual and irrevocable resignation or removal of all the aforementioned plus Oliver, ter Maat, Phillies, Bilyeu, Bishop-Henchman, Sarwark, Moellman, Neale, Hinkle, Dixon, Lark, Jorgensen, Johnson, Barr, Badnarik, Browne, Olivier, Marrou, Hornberger, Ballay and countless others from the Libertarian Party. Oh, and for the immediate disaffiliation of the LPNY, of course…

“though it did not indicate any plans to disaffiliate.”
Then sit down and shut up, because that is literally the only thing you have the authority to decide on.
“This marks the second such resolution issued by the New York affiliate since the 2024 election”
It sure does U+1F644
