Green Party of Colorado Co-chair Patrick Dillon launched a campaign on Wednesday for an at-large seat on the Longmont City Council. In a press release, Dillon said he would advocate for working families amid ongoing budget challenges.
In the statement, which he shared with Independent Political Report, Dillon described Longmont as being at a “critical tipping point,” citing public services as “under attack by staggering state and federal budget cuts.” He argued that these cuts have also strained the city’s local economy. His campaign priorities include addressing homelessness and affordable housing, supporting policies that provide economic security for working families, investing in social services, and expanding environmental protections.
Dillon noted that his campaign has already been endorsed by Lafayette City Councilman Tim Barnes—one of two elected Green Party members in Colorado—and Julie Jacobs, the Planning and Community Development Commissioner for the Town of Lyons.
Dillon currently serves as the Green Party of Colorado’s co-chair, though he is the only one in the role following the passing of Desmond Wallington last month. Dillon was first elected to the position in 2024 at the state party’s nominating convention. His full statement is included below:

Having navigated the foster care system himself, Dillon has a unique understanding of the challenges faced by working- and middle-class families and a deep seated commitment to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
“Every single day, our neighbors are making tough decisions: to keep food in the fridge, the lights on, and a roof over their heads,” says Dillon. “They need someone willing to fight for them as hard as they fight for the people they love.”
