Illinois Green Party to Hold Spring Convention, Other Events

The Illinois Green Party will host their 2025 spring convention next month, according to the party’s events page. The convention is set for April 26 at the Sulzer Regional Library Auditorium, 4455 N. Lincoln Ave. in Chicago from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Among the agenda of items for the convention are candidate announcements for the 2026 election cycle, officer elections, presentations, and workshops.

The convention will be a hybrid convention, as they have the past several years, with attendees available to join via Zoom. Registration for access to the Zoom meeting is available here.

A representative from the Illinois Green Party did not indicate any potential runs for statewide office in 2026.

The party did not field a slate of statewide candidates in the 2022 general election. In 2024, the Illinois Green Party was kicked off the ballot along with the Libertarian Party of Illinois due to submitting too few signatures to ballot-qualify for the presidential race. The Green Party’s nominee, Dr. Jill Stein, received 31,023 write-in votes, followed by Libertarian Party nominee Chase Oliver (3,510), Socialist and Liberation Party nominee Claudia De la Cruz (2,877), American Solidarity Party nominee Peter Sonski (1,391), and Other Write-Ins (2,141) in a race that saw former Vice President Kamala Harris take Illinois by over 600,000 votes over then-former President Donald Trump.

The party’s website also does not currently indicate any candidates running for local offices on the ballot for the upcoming consolidated election on April 1.

Among other upcoming events is the Climate Change Conference (which starts Wednesday, March 12 in Chicago), a candidates meeting on March 18, a rally to save the United States Postal Service in Carbondale on March 23, and a rally in Chicago on March 30 for transgender visibility. More information on these events are available through their website.
