Libertarian Party of Texas Announces 2026 Convention Theme and Slogan

The Libertarian Party of Texas this week announced its 2026 state convention theme, selecting “New Frontier” following months of input from members. Its conventions are held in even-numbered years to comply with Texas election laws.

Since January, the Convention Planning Committee of the Libertarian Party of Texas has solicited theme and slogan suggestions from members. The committee confirmed its choice of New Frontier in a May 26 post on social media, framing it as a nod to the spirit of the Old West and a call to reclaim liberty.

“Embodying the bold spirit of the Old West—rugged individualism, boomtown growth, and defiance of control—this theme is a call to reclaim true liberty in 2026,” the party stated. The committee later followed up Wednesday that the convention’s official slogan for event advertising and merchandising would be “Liberty Ain’t Lawless.”

Texas Libertarians won’t meet for their convention until next April in Abilene. Texas election law requires political parties to hold their conventions in even-numbered years, so the party typically hosts them biannually to align itself with the law. While the Convention Planning Committee hasn’t formally announced a venue, it has confirmed a date, with the convention scheduled for April 10 to April 12.

In the meantime, the committee is actively soliciting member suggestions for guest speakers and convention activities and workshops. While nothing has been confirmed, an open list of suggestions the committee has been sent includes several former Libertarian presidential and vice presidential candidates, various authors and party activists, and former Congressman Justin Amash. It also has received requests for discussions on topics such as ways to replace the state Democratic Party as the second major party and the history of libertarian thought.

Who will provide the grand design?
What is yours and what is mine?
‘Cause there is no more new frontier
We have got to make it here
    We satisfy our endless needs
    And justify our bloody deeds
    In the name of destiny
And in the name of God.
