The Vermont Progressive Party is seeking a new Executive Director following the departure of Josh Wronski, who served as the party’s longest-running staff leader. The position is central to the organization’s internal operations and electoral strategy.
In a July 17 statement, the party announced that Wronski had left to accept a position with the Vermont State Employees’ Association. Wronski worked for the party for nine years, during which he oversaw the modernization of its outdated database, worked closely with legislators, testified at the Vermont State House, doubled the party’s fundraising totals, and supported competitive campaigns in Burlington.
“These are just a few of the many things Josh accomplished in this role,” the party wrote in the earlier announcement. “Josh, his partner Annie, and their son have sacrificed in a number of ways as he served as our Party’s director over the last decade — we owe them all a debt of gratitude for that.”
The party is now looking to hire a new Executive Director, publishing an update last Friday on its website. According to the announcement, the party is seeking applicants with experience in electoral politics or grassroots organizing, and notes that skills in campaign finance, communications, and digital tools such as database management are preferred.
The position is responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the state party, including candidate recruitment, legislative coordination, fundraising, public relations, and event planning. A chart included in the announcement suggests that fundraising will make up the largest share of the Executive Director’s responsibilities.
Additionally, the role is a full-time responsibility and includes a starting salary of $56,000, along with health-related stipends and travel reimbursement. Resumes, cover letters, and references are due by September 1 and must be submitted by email to Vermont Progressive Party Chair Anthony Pollina. The party noted that it is also open to training new hires.
