Communist Party USA Issues Call for Resistance-Themed Artwork

The Communist Party USA is requesting artistic submissions for a national project centered on working-class culture and themes of resistance, with contributed works intended for use in party educational programming.

In a November 27 call to supporters, the CPUSA National Education Commission said it is seeking original content from creators across a wide array of artistic disciplines. The project is part of an effort to promote a “vibrant, joyful, optimistic mass working-class culture of resistance” during a time of great challenge.

“We are issuing an emergency call for your original artwork,” the request reads. “Please send us all forms of your original art celebrating the resistance movement. This might include art oriented toward African American History Month in February, Women’s History Month in March, Earth Month in April, and Working-Class History Month in May.”

The commission is seeking numerous submissions, including drawing, painting, poetry and oratory displays, music and dance, and more. Submissions may be sent as image files, text documents, or short video clips. Any video content should be kept to only a few minutes in length and recorded in a horizontal orientation so it can be incorporated into slideshows and displays.

Artists are asked to send their work directly to the CPUSA National Education Commission by email, with contact information available through the party. The collected materials will be used immediately in collections supporting the party’s educational efforts.
