U.S. Pirate Party Conducting Multi-Round Vote to Select 2026 Conference Site

The United States Pirate Party is conducting a multi-round tournament to determine the host city for its 2026 national conference. The organization says the event will be held on a boat regardless of which city ultimately wins.

In a November 17 update, the party announced that the 2026 Pirate National Conference will take place on June 6. It reports the site selection process began earlier this month, with voting details available through the party’s Discord server. While it is still too early to provide agenda and speaker information, the party noted that the conference will celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the Pirate Party organizing in the United States.

The first stage of voting took place last week and featured twelve cities, with members choosing between New Orleans in Louisiana, Albuquerque in New Mexico, Chicago in Illinois, Las Vegas in Nevada, Louisville in Kentucky, Mobile in Alabama, Plattsburgh in New York, and Seattle in Washington.

Four additional cities were granted an automatic advance to the second round based on their initial support when organizers compiled the list. Those cities were Boston in Massachusetts, Providence in Rhode Island, Portland in Oregon, and Vicksburg in Mississippi.

The first round of voting ended on Sunday, with Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Louisville, and Plattsburgh removed from consideration. A second round is now underway, with Boston facing Mobile, Providence facing Seattle, Portland facing Chicago, and Vicksburg facing New Orleans. Voting continues through December 1, after which the party plans to release the four finalists.

A third stage will further narrow the field to two remaining cities before a final vote is held. The United States Pirate Party plans to announce the winning location on December 15.
