Canyon Gargon, the Libertarian National Committee’s Systems Administrator, is leaving the Libertarian Party’s national staff next week after accepting a job offer elsewhere. Gargon has served in the position for roughly three years.
In a thread earlier this month on the LNC’s public Business List, Executive Director Steve Dasbach informed national committee members that Gargon verbally gave his two weeks’ notice to Chief Technology Officer Andy Buchkovich earlier in the day. Dasbach said he spoke with Gargon shortly afterward and that his anticipated final day with the party will be September 15.
Gargon has served as the party’s systems administrator since late 2023, with meeting minutes at the time placing his hiring date sometime between the LNC’s August and December meetings.
Since joining staff, Gargon has assisted with handling technology requests from other staff members. He was also involved with beta testing the party’s Zoho system during the 2024 national convention and more recently worked with Buchkovich on backend testing for the party’s Unified Membership Program.
Dasbach said the party’s immediate focus in the lead-up to Gargon’s final day would be to ensure that at least one staff member is appropriately cross-trained on each of Gargon’s responsibilities and that his individual tasks are documented ahead of his exit.
Dasbach did not say whether the party intends to identify a replacement for Gargon at this point in time. He also said he wasn’t aware of any action required by the LNC’s Employment Policy and Compensation Committee, which is responsible for developing policies and procedures governing party staff, including hiring and compensation.
