Barr, Nader register in polls in several states

CQ Politics updates its state-by-state poll tracking in the presidential race, and Libertarian Bob Barr and independent Ralph Nader are registering in a few states:

  • In Colorado, a Rocky Mountain News/CBS 4 poll conducted August 11-13 (+-/ 4.38%) has Barr at three percent, Nader at two percent.
  • In Florida, an InsiderAdvantage poll conducted August 11 (+/- 5) has Barr at two percent.
  • In Georgia, a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted July 17 (+/- 4.5%) has Barr at five percent.
  • In North Carolina,a Public Policy Polling survey conducted July 23-27 (+/- 3.4%) has Barr at three percent.
  • In Texas, a University of Texas-Austin poll conducted July 18-30 (+/- 3.77%) has Barr “at just under” five percent and Nader at two percent.

      Since Nader is not even on the ballot in Texas I would have to guess 2% is not realistic.

      Thanks for compiling these. These are consistent with recent national polls that include Barr and Nader. 5% in Texas is a bit surprising. If we continue to see results like this after the conventions, Barr will be headed for 2-4% on Election Day. But more likely the base will return to McCain and his best state polls will shrink to 1-2%, which would indicate a possible sub-1% finish.
