Watson: “Former Governor Calls For Paul-Ventura Ticket”

Paul Watson reports at infowars.com that Former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura has sensationally called for Ron Paul to quit the Republican Party in order to form a Paul-Ventura libertarian ticket that can take on the establishment candidates in the race for the White House in 2012.

“Ron Paul can win, all you’ve got to do is activate and get the silent voters out to vote,” Ventura told the Alex Jones Show, adding that a Ron Paul-Ventura Libertarian ticket would create “incredible excitement”.

“Ron Paul needs to quit the Republican Party, get the nomination for the Libertarian Party,” said Ventura, adding that he would consider being in a Ron Paul cabinet if the Congressman won.

“I would be his best choice because I would be a great insurance policy,” joked Ventura, noting that nothing would happen to Ron Paul because it would mean he would be in power and would cause the establishment even greater problems than the Congressman.Full story @ http://www.infowars.com/former-governor-calls-for-paul-ventura-ticket/

Ventura thinks that the Libertarian Party has ballot access in all 50 states, which is not true. He also at one point said libertarian small l. I am not sure if he know exactly what he was saying. I would have supported Ventura until I read ‘Don’t Start the Revolution.’ Although I believe that he is definitely not controlled by any one but Jesse and possibly Mrs. Ventura but would not bow to pressure groups.

No messiah candidate is going to save the LP. We need to focus on the issues and build the base. When the LP looks attractive it may find that candidates will be knocking on the door.

At this point, we don’t need more name recognition for the LP. We’ve achieved that (Despite one LNC member saying we haven’t achieved anything since ’71, we HAVE made “libertarian” a household word.)

What we need now is to gain support among the general populace. While I generally like Ventura, he would alienate more voters than he would attract. We need to discard the “nut job” reputation the MSM tries to stick on us, and gain recognition for providing workable, free-market solutions to real problems.

Dr. Paul has made it clear that he won’t run as an LP candidate again. That’s unfortunate, but if he did, I would NOT advocate a strategy of pairing him with a “name” candidate. He has enough name recognition to support the ticket all by himself.

Instead, I would advocate pairing him with a more radical up-and-comer to get THAT person more name recognition for his or her next campaign.

In other words, we need to build another candidate’s name recognition for future campaigns.

I wonder why the real paulie hasn’t denied the comment @ #1 made by Paulie?

If it wasn’t me, I would have.

But no link and the upper case P confused me.

I hope it happens. I would support them.

So would I, but it won’t.

So Paul/Ventura run with LP and get 10% to 20% of the vote.

That would be nice. I don’t believe it will happen, though.

14 sane, despite the skeletons, Paul/Ventura would be very difficult to overlook in the public square. The L word is finally becoming commonly recognized.

It would be especially interesting if Romney gets the nod. (Many believe Perry is a flash in the pan. Palin’s been taken down.)

Paul/Ventura might get both a nice chunk of both the Tea Party AND the anti-war vote. Both are national figures of some note. What’s not to like about that?

Lots of risk with Paul/Ventura. They’d have to both deftly handle the Newsletter and conspiracy theory stuff…can be done, I’d say.

So Kinky got 12%. What did the Libertarian candidate get?

So Paul/Ventura run with LP and get 10% to 20% of the vote. Twenty years after Ross Perot, people still talk about him.
You want some serious marketing of a brand name, you either need a TON of money or some recognized spokespeople. Well, the LP doesn’t have any money.
Also a Paul/Ventura ticket would energize the party big time and most likely get some ballot access retention with a percentage of vote for president in 2012. Think of the savings in future petitioning, even if the savings are only for 2 to 4 years.

I actually like Jesse Ventura, but I believe he’s filling his niche now. I don’t think he’d
be a good running mate for Dr. Paul.

The 2006 Texas Gubernatorial election saw nearly 50% of voters cast a straight-ticket ballot (split nearly evenly between R & D) that alone made it unlikely (i.e. nearly impossible) that anyone other than one of the major party candidates would win.

  14. Roger Gary September 28, 2011

Ventura said Kinky Friedman would win the governor’s race in Texas. Kinky came in 4th in a 6 way race with 12% of the vote.

  15. George Whitfield September 28, 2011

I hope it happens. I would support them.

Jimmy @ 2 – The article also said “Ron Paul needs to quit the Republican Party, get the nomination for the Libertarian Party…” quoting Jesse Ventura.

  18. Brian September 28, 2011

Correction: Ventura won’t run. We get this crap every couple of years here in MN. He’ll make a lot of noise but eventually decide against it. He’s like a more paranoid Trump.

  19. That Guy September 28, 2011

    Watson nails it!

Support Paul-Ventura, nobody else will do.

  20. Jimmy September 28, 2011

The article said “libertarian,” not “Libertarian.” Ventura is a joke. I supported him during his gubernatorial campaign but he has gotten nutty during the last ten years or so.

  21. Paulie September 28, 2011

Ron Paul will not run alt party or independent. Ventura will not run alt party, as he is now against all political parties in principle.
