INDIANA: Libertarian Saddened That Republican Is Out of Race

Rupert On Wallace Suspending Campaign

Indianapolis, IN- Rupert Boneham, Libertarian candidate for Governor, today said that he is saddened that Jim Wallace, who was also running in the Indiana Gubernatorial race in the Republican Party primary, suspend his campaign today.

“Jim brought much needed competition to the Republican party, and to the primary and to the gubernatorial race,” Boneham said. “Jim has been an advocate for liberty, economic stability and fiscal responsibility for our state.”

Wallace appeared before the Indiana Election Commission (IEC) last week to plead his case that his campaign had submitted more than enough signatures required to be placed on the primary ballot along side of Mike Pence. Marion county election officials, however, had rejected enough of the signatures to cause Wallace’s number of signatures for Indiana’s seventh district to fall below 500, the number required for placement on the May primary ballot.

Boneham’s campaign manager, Evan McMahon also commented on the suspension of the Wallace campaign. “It’s clear from the hearing last week, and the manner in which Mr. Wallace was attacked by members of his own party that if candidates don’t walk in lockstep with the establishment, those candidates will find themselves left out in the cold.”

“Just ask those voters who support Ron Paul’s presidential campaign,” added McMahon.
