The Libertarian party have made their nomination this year. It’s going to be Gov. Gary Johnson for the 2016 presidency. I’m very pleased with everything he’s come out and said so far. He’s going to be fiscally conservative and socially liberal.
This is a third option for people to land if they’re unhappy with what the two parties have offered in Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump — or Bernie Sanders, if he’s still hanging in there.
Johnson’s latest is that he said he will work with Congress to withdraw our military from the Middle East. That’s my position completely and I couldn’t be happier over it.
I hope that the people of this country will wake up and listen to Gov. Johnson. Vote for him, so that we can start implementing new policies, and pull out of the Middle East. Let’s end all our problems abroad. Johnson is a very viable alternative, and I hope that people exercise this third option this year.

Ventura is not my ideal candidate. I just said that he is better than Weld.
He knew when and where the convention was and he chose to not show up. This should tell you how serious he was about running.
Ventura likely prefers Johnson to Stein because Johnson has relevant experience as a governor. Stein has less relevant experience than the average IPR commenter.
Yes, Andy, but I mean by you. Take the bull by the horns. Raise funds, set up a draft Ventura campaign, generate interest and attention, go see him, hold his hand, write his speeches … that’s what it means if you recruit him to run.
Ventura was already invited to the convention and to be a candidate. He obviously chose to sit out.
Coley or Sharpe would have been much better choices for vp.
Well, Andy, you should have invited him to the convention, maybe you could have recruited him to run …
While there are certainly problems with Ventura from a libertarian perspective, I would much rather have him as our vp candidate right now than Weld.
Ventura shouldn’t give up yet. Sanders’ supporters could shift to Stein instead of Clinton, and we can then exercise our first choice.
(Tongue-in-cheek, I realize he preferred Johnson in ’12 too for some reason. Because libertarians are more manly, maybe?)
I used to be a VERY BIG Jesse Ventura guy. I would push him on my LP friends as a future LP POTUS candidate. Then he became a conspiracy theorist . . . . I do love his pre-conspiracy books. Anytime someone speaks positively about our candidate, it’s a good thing (unless it’s David Duke . . . . “I don’t know who he is . . . “)
