CPUSA to Host Town Hall with South African Communist Leaders on Tech Industry’s Political Influence

The African American Equality Commission of the Communist Party USA is set to host a town hall next week featuring leaders from the South African Communist Party to discuss the growing influence of tech industry figures on the U.S. federal government.

According to an email from the Commission sent this week, the town hall will take place on February 23 and will examine what it describes as a “new political moment that in many ways breaks sharply from the past.” The event will focus on the increasing role of wealthy individuals associated with the tech industry, including Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and Mark Zuckerberg.

The Commission will host Rob Davies, a former South African Member of Parliament and Minister of Trade and Industry from 2009 to 2019, along with other members of the South African Communist Party for a formal presentation. Promotional materials for the town hall highlight the South African origins of Musk and Thiel, with the Commission stating that attendees will “hear their unique perspective on the rise of the tech oligarchs.”

According to the Commission, Davies will discuss the “shock therapy” policies of what it refers to as a “Trump–Musk-led U.S. government,” describing them as austerity measures presented as “efficiency” that are negatively affecting working-class and impoverished communities in both the United States and worldwide.

Following Davies’ presentation, the Commission will host a discussion session. While the event is open to the public, advance registration is required.

    @William
    “turned a blind eye to the influence tech companies and tech people have over our lives”

    Tech companies certainly, individual tech people not so much. But it’s not just tech companies, it’s corporations in general.

    Corporations act as arms of the state to enforce its totalitarian rule: corporatism – the exact opposite of capitalism – goes hand in hand with fascist economic policy, and is no less socialist than communism is.

    So forgive me is I scoff at the rank hypocrisy of the Communist Party of the USA pretending to address the issue by inviting foreign ethno-fascists with a growing history of ongoing racial genocide to talk about it…

    What’s next? Inviting “ukrainian” nazis like Roman-wannabibi-Shukhevich here, to talk about the dangers of NATO?

    —

    @Roman-wannabibi-Shukhevich, the valor stealing, banderite nazi; the boastfully self-proclaimed pedophile and zoophile; the idolizer and threatener of rape and torture; and the idolator who previously claimed to worship some false god called “Perun”, but now has decided to pretend – very unconvincingly – to be both a Arabic muslim woman and her son, yet who does not even know that “habibi” is in the masculine form…

    William makes a good point. Furthermore, capitalism is not necessarily better than socialism. Rather, something like a happy medium between the two is ideal, with a great deal of deference to centuries and millennia old social tradition, and great power in the hands of intermeshed and interwoven religious and civic authority.

    As for South Africa, the genocidal European colonialists will simply have to get used to the fact that this is not their continent. They are at best guests and at worst illegal invaders, looters and murderers. They should count themselves extremely lucky when they are as the first and not as the second. Likewise, collaboration with the colonizers during a revolutionary struggle would obviously lead to some traitors being executed.

    It’s amazing how Americans have turned a blind eye to the influence tech companies and tech people have over our lives. We have outsourced our entire to these tech vultures. Can you imagine what it would be like trying to use a toilet today if indoor plumbing had been invented by Microsoft?

    While the CPUSA may not have the best solutions to this problem, they are at least trying to bring the issue up.

    Ah, just what American needs: highly experienced genocidal terrorists coming and teaching our homegrown aspiring genocidal terrorists the finer details of filling inner tubes with gasoline, hanging them around innocent people’s necks and lighting them on fire. Fascist Mandela would be proud!
