Conservative Party of New York State Nominates Dana Salazar for Supreme Court Justice

The Conservative Party of New York State nominated Dana Salazar for Supreme Court Justice over the weekend. Salazar, who also received the Republican endorsement, will appear on both party lines in the November general election.

In a press release shared to social media Monday, Jack Hayes, State Executive Committee member and Ulster County Conservative Chair, said party delegates had met in Coxsackie this past Sunday, August 10, for their Third Judicial District Convention, where they formally backed Salazar. In the release, Hayes applauded Salazar’s depth of experience and judicial temperament and said her record reflects the values the organization prioritizes.

“Dana Salazar is a distinguished, experienced and respected member of the court,” Hayes stated. “The New York State Conservative Party is proud to nominate and support Dana Lynn Salazar.”

Salazar formally announced her candidacy earlier this month. She is an attorney with nearly two decades of practice in trial and appellate courts and currently serves as managing partner at Salazar and Erikson LLP. In addition to seeking the Conservative Party nomination, Salazar also sought Republican support, which she reportedly received on Monday.

In 2023, she ran for Supreme Court in the same district as the Conservative and Republican nominee, earning 89,166 votes, of which 16,906 were on the Conservative line, but finished two points behind Democrat and Working Families nominee Richard Rivera in a four-way race for three seats.

In November, Salazar will face Democratic nominee and Albany County Judge William Little in a two-way contest for an open seat following the retirement of Justice John C. Egan.
