Anthony Gregory, of LRC, has the following advice for Libertarian Bob Barr:
Instead of semi-running on your Congressional career, renounce it all but completely. An ad from your Congressional campaign several years ago boasts of all the “vital” legislation you helped enact, including the renaming of the National Airport after Ronald Reagan. It attacks John Linder, your opponent, for having, in ten years in office, “enacted a total of only two laws” — and very minor ones at that.
Let us hope the current campaign not only sets a different tone, but repudiates the law-happy philosophy of your past. After all, watching this ad from a few years back, most libertarians and any conservatives actually interested in smaller government would probably conclude that the better man to vote for is John Linder.

I think the whole reasons that the hasn’t completely disowned his past is because his whole campaign is about picking up discontent republicans.
I think part of the reason, that Barr hasn’t completely disowned his past is that he wouldn’t mind getting a few votes from discontent republican voters who thinks he’s still the same old Bob Barr.
Linder isn’t a libertarian, but Barr sure seems to love Linder’s baby, the Fair Tax.
Gregory’s take is disingenous at best…and, in my opinion, Anthony is one of the best writers in our movement.

Gregory, I’m not sure if the folks at Lew Rockwell side with you on this, but you are a much better writer than to suggest that Linder ever would be acceptable to any self-respecting Libertarian.
If the folks at Lew Rockwell do side with you on this, maybe you all ought to read the back issues of Libertarian Forum…cause there is ALOT in that newsletter by Murray Rothbard which can teach you how to run a real smear on decent people. Rothbard was a master at that.
