Knapp aims for ‘double digits,’ ‘respectable second’ in MO congressional race

Libertarian Thomas Knapp is ramping up his campaign for Congress in Missouri’s 2nd district. In a message sent to his Facebook supporters, Knapp says:

Over the next two months, my job is to position myself, rather than the as-yet-unnamed Democrat, as THE alternative to incumbent Todd Akin.

I’m a realist, and I respect you. I’m not going to tell you that this is a “winnable race,” because I don’t think that’s true. But with a little money I believe that “double digits” are very possible, and that there’s an outside chance that I can come in a respectable SECOND in a three-way race versus two “major party” opponents.

Knapp is approaching the race with a novel strategy. His initial plans call for a budget of $5,000, which will only increase, he says, if he can prove to himself and his supporters “that that first $5,000 was a good investment and that its value can be improved with more money.”

Knapp has posted a preliminary budget at his Web site.

I still don’t understand why he’s running in a district he doesn’t actually live in. Is there already an LP candidate in his own Congressional race?
