State Senator and former Sullivan County Sheriff, John Waterman, is exploring an independent run for governor of Indiana. Water says that voters are “disgruntled” about the direction of the state and want a conservative choice on the November ballot.
Waterman is a big supporter of eliminating property taxes and can count on backing from several property tax repeal groups. His first challenge will be to find a running mate by Wednesday. Then, the ticket will need to collect 33,000 signatures by the end of June in order to secure a spot on the ballot.
Incumbent governor Mitch Daniels, a Republican, has been favored for re-election. He’s facing off against former Congresswoman Jill Long Thompson.
