Who has the friends to back them up?

As we’re fast approaching the kick-off the Libertarian convention in Denver, I decided to take a final look around at the candidates and their websites. Many are now linking to their respective Facebook and MySpace profiles, so I decided to click through to each of those and count up who has the most friends.

The answer? Mike Gravel, the winner by a mile!

This is obviously as a result of Gravel’s several months of campaigning as a Democrat. Here’s the full list I came up with. When a candidate had multiple groups, I went with the official or most popular one I could find. If you see any errors on here, please comment and I will correct the list…

Mike Gravel – 9,143 Facebook Supporters / 12,288 MySpace Friends

Steve Kubby – 135 Facebook Supporters / 3,930 MySpace Friends

Bob Barr – 1,086 Facebook Supporters / 759 MySpace Friends

Wayne Root – 376 Facebook Supporters / 124 MySpace Friends

George Phillies – 257 Facebook Supporters / 796 MySpace Friends

Mary Ruwart – 116 Facebook Supporters / 137 MySpace Friends

I’ve been tracking the Facebook Supporters for the candidates from all the parties for about a month. I’m looking forward to the Libertarians “clearing the field” this weekend so I don’t have as many people to look up!

BTW – love the new site, good luck, I’m book marking it. I’m working with a few other people on starting up a “green alternative” to TPW. I’ll post the link when its cleaned up.

MySpace has the marijuana crowd, I guess.

If you combine the numbers, I believe Kubby is right behind Gravel.
