Independent Lou Dobbs considering NJ gubernatorial run

Former Republican Lou Dobbs, now registered as an independent and highly critical of the two parties, is reported to be considering a run for New Jersey governor. The story is being covered by CNN.

Dobbs has characterized himself as an “independent populist” lately, but reports say if he runs for governor, it will be as a Republican. Dobbs’s positions do not line up neatly with either major party, or any of the more prominent minor parties for that matter.

Dobbs’s signature issue is illegal immigration. He supports a border fence. He’s also highly critical of free trade and outsourcing. He supports government regulation of the financial sector and a higher minimum wage. He’s opposed to the War in Iraq.

Hey, Ross. Where’s Gravel at? Is he going to speak for the NI4D around the country?

Lou Dobbs is a xenophobic blowhard, if he is even sincere about the beliefs he espouses. I suspect it’s just an on-air persona fabricated to appeal to the nativists who flocked to FauxNews a long time ago.

I don’t think he would run as a Republican, that would be like going back on what you have been saying you are.
