Libertarian for U.S. Senate in Michigan, Scotty Boman, will be joining thousands of Ron Paul “R3VOLutionaries” in a march on D.C. this weekend. Boman, who met and voted for Ron Paul in 1988, was very active in the Ron Paul 2008 presidential campaign, despite his strong Libertarian pedigree. Boman chaired the effort to get the Libertarian Party of Michigan on the ballot in 1993, and has run for partisan office as a Libertarian in eight consecutive election cycles.
Although it could be considered to be a campaign event, Boman will be using his personal funds to pay for his trip to D.C. Fundraising has not gone extraordinarily well for Boman, who set a goal of $10,000 by July 4, and fell $6,620 short. His Web site now says its goal is to raise $10,000 by July 31.
IPR’s editor-in-chief is working with the Boman08 campaign.

I just found out that Chuck Baldwin is going to be speaking IMMEDIATELY prior to Ron Paul.
I hope one of IPR’s vast network of journalists will be able to provide some non-MSM reporting on the march in DC this weekend. I’d be interested to know what level of presence the BTP, CP, LP and independent candidacies have at the march. Plus any photos, vid and honest numbers estimates would be cool.
I realize this weekends thing is not necessarily a third party or indie event.
And — sorry, more questions, I am not up to speed enough on the libertarian capitalist movement to know any group nuances. But, is this event this weekend organized by the the Paul campaign, or autonomous? And if autonomous, is this element of the paulian revo more inclined toward political action outside the Republican Party?
And lastly, I would be very interested in any IPR articles with insights into the Ron Paul gathering coinciding with the RNC convention.
Thanks!
Yeah I missed out on our local parade, it was the first Saturday in May, when I was still deciding what to do.
I am going to hit up 2 huge local festivals the next 2 weeks in St.Joe. I should be able to hand out a ton of material at that point. I’ve included Scotty & other michigan libertarians as well in the hand outs.
Oh yeah, and anybody reading this: You can paste anything from IPR to your sites, so long as you point a link our way.
TPW does it all the time, without permission… Even on our “exclusives.” In the Chuck Baldwin interview, all they did was take out the part that said “IPR Exclusive.”
I guess I should be happy they didn’t call it a “TPW Exclusive.”
Jason – Scotty wants to do events all over the state. He’d love to do something down there.
Hey, have you ever looked into doing a parade? It may sound lame, but the parade we did in Saginaw was GREAT.
GE, can I post this on my site as well? Just want to get permission first.
I plan on donating to Scotty again before the election. There’s so many people I want to donate to, its just a matter of spacing it out a bit. I’ve donated to Boman, Munger & AntiWar.com in the past couple of weeks, thats a lot for me. But again, hopefully it shows that others can find a few extra bucks to donate as well.
I’m going to be emailing you tonight GE. We want to see if we can figure out a way to get Scotty down here for an event of some nature prior to the election. Maybe tie something in with Lake Michigan College. Who knows. We bounced a few ideas around at our EC meeting on Wednesday.
