Ten Presidential Nominating Conventions Coming in August and September

Posted at Ballot Access News

At least ten presidential nominating conventions will be held in August and September:

1. The Peace and Freedom Party meets in Sacramento, California, on August 2-3.
2. The Natural Law Party of Michigan meets on August 9.
3. The Independent Party of Delaware meets on August 16.
4. The Independent/Ecology Party formed this year by Ralph Nader meets in Los Angeles on August 16. This party is on the ballot in Hawaii, New Mexico and Florida.
5. The Democratic Party meets in Denver August 25-28.
6. The Independence Party of South Carolina meets on September 6.
7. The Republican Party meets in Minneapolis, September 1-4.
8. The New York Independence Party meets September 21.

It is not known when the New York Conservative Party, or the Oregon Independent Party, will meet. America’s Independent Party, the party being organized by Alan Keyes, will hold a national convention, but neither the date nor the location has been chosen. It will probably be in August.

Nader might get on the ballot in California if he captures the Peace and Freedom Party nomination. In the comments, Richard Winger and Phil Sawyer estimate his chances of that at 50-50. There may also be a chance he will get on the ballot in New York through the Independence Party.

Hmm, might be a lark, but I suspect most of them are right where we left them…

That would be an interesting feature for IPR: “Where are they now.”

You want to give it a try?

    GE, your hunch is correct.

The NLP is only considering Nader. I think Darcy checked into it for the BTP.

  6. G.E. G.E. July 29, 2008

The Natural Law Party of Michigan nominated Walt Brown last time.

Jason Gatties recommended that the BTP approach them this year.

My bet is they’ll go with Nader, who went with the Reform Party last time.

Just a hunch. This could be totally wrong.

Peace and Freedom Party has a chance to ‘do’ Nader/ Gonzales in 2008!

Don’t they have to enter the “win a date with Nader” contest first?

Nader’s Raiders self destructed in their personal effort [as a Declare Your Independence (Duh!) ] Independent in the Golden State per P2004. The California Green Party almost gave the middle finger to the Democratic Party dominated national convention and the utterly forgettable Cobb/ LaMarshe train wreck. They almost did a one state nomination of Nader/ Camejo.

The One state National Social and Feminist Party Peace and Freedom Party had a 2004 chance to go with Nader/ Camejo. Instead they nominated YET ANOTHER cop killing federal felon and my neighbor former felon and prison right activist Janice Jordan.

Peace and Freedom Party has a chance to ‘do’ Nader/ Gonzales in 2008! PFP member and third party activist Philip Sawyer is pushing for Nader.
