Statement by Admiral Michael Colley (Board member and Chair of the Employment Policy and Compensation Committee) and Robert Kraus (Acting ED) naming Volunteer Coordinator Austin Petersen the new “Director of Outreach and Affiliate Relations:
“For your excellent work in growing our volunteer base, helping with affiliates, expanding our first rate internship program and organizing outreach events throughout the US, you are hereby named as our Director of Outreach & Affiliate Relations on this Thursday, April 2, 2009. We believe this new title and honor better defines what you have been doing for the LP, its affiliates and members for the last year. We thank you for your continued service to the Libertarian Movement.”

He’s always been cool with me. I haven’t seen this other side of which you speak.
I agree; outreach and affiliate relations is what we need a lot more of.
Austin was cool the first time we met at the Michigan convention and then acted like a dick to me online. Not sure if that means he’s some sort of “internet tuff guy” or If I just caught him on a bad day.
I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt until he acts dickish to me again. Congrats on the new job title.

I think that title is a better reflection of his work – since most volunteerism is done at the local level – and I hope it encourages state affiliates to ask more from the national office and *contribute more to it* in the way of information resources and ways of doing things. We have a lot of scattered and valuable information and wisdom at the state and local level; I hope to see Austin pull it together into one place.
