Matt Gonzalez to Endorse Republican?

On August 20th, IPR reported that Matt Gonzalez and Ron Paul will be attending an anti-war rally together in San Francisco. However, the event may be more than that. Darren Richardson at allvoices.com claims,

Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) will be attending the San Francisco rally in support of Republican candidate John Dennis, who faces a formidable and well-funded opponent in California’s 8th District – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Former S.F. supervisor and Ralph Nader’s 2008 vice presidential candidate Matt Gonzalez will also be in attendance, urging voters to turn out Pelosi in exchange for representation from the anti-war Republican candidate. Gonzalez, running on the Green Party ticket, narrowly lost the 2003 S.F. mayoral race to Gavin Newsom.

Ron Paul already endorsed Dennis some time back. There were rumors Rep. Dennis Kucinich planned to attend the event, but these turned out false. I wonder if Cindy Sheehan plans to attend; she ran as an Independent against Pelosi in 2008.

Too bad Pelosi is in such a safe district. As much as I would like to see her lose, John Dennis is probably more likely to be struck by lightning in November than win that election.

  2. Catholic Trotskyist

In an extremely rare endorsement of a Republican, the Catholic Trotskyist Party of America also endorses John Dennis.

  3. Catholic Trotskyist

It should be noted that John Dennis is an interesting name to have as a candidate in the Bay Area. John Dennis is also the name of a professor at Saint Mary’s College in the East Bay who was murdered a couple years ago. This John Dennis was a gay African-American Catholic Democrat.

We endorse this Republican John Dennis because Nancy Pelosi has on purpose sabotaged the mission of Catholic Trotskyism through her inept leadership of the Democrats. Ron Paul Republicans are also strategic allies of Catholic Trotskyism because of their anti-abortion, anti-war position. Hopefully Dennis will attract Republican voters, Sheehan voters, as well as others.

  4. NewFederalist

If he attracts GOP voters as well as Her Imperial Highness Empress Sheehan voters he’ll end up with… oh,say… 31.27% of the vote. Just a bit short.

I am so sick of Ron Paul.
    Shun the Pauls.
Do not support or contribute to the Pauls & counterrevolutionary C4L.
Donate 35 million to the LP in 2012 INSTEAD of The Pauls & C4L.

There is also a Libertarian Party candidate in the Pelosi race. He is Philip Berg, who has run previously. Of course, when he began his race, we had no idea there was a Ron Paul libertarian running as a Republican. Sadly, though, John Dennis has as much chance as Phil Berg of winning in San Francisco. The only way to remove Pelosi is for a very wealthy gay Democrat to challenge her in the primary.

“The only way to remove Pelosi for a very wealthy gay Democrat to challenge her in the primary.”
    Incorrect.
The Libertarian could run a PLAS campaign & win.

  8. Danny S

@Milnes, in 2006 the Libertarian and Green vote combined for under 5% of the vote in the 8th District.

And @NewFederalist, by that logic then he could win with the GOP vote + Matt Gonzalez’ vote.

I am certain that when the American colonies revolted against King George’s administration that there were plenty of people who thought they didn’t have a chance then either.

Nancy Pelosi’s politics are revolting. I know of of no reason why John Dennis shouldn’t be able to persuade a plurality of voters to vote for him as long as he makes an inspiring case. San Francisco is a great city and the people there are as capable of voting for a great candidate as people in any other American city.

Good for Ron Paul. It’s time to end these undeclared, unConstitutional preemptive wars.

I’m so sick of War mongers infiltrating every party including the so called “Libertarian Party”. Seriously, Barr & Root?! If Barr’s a libertarian, then Cheney 2012.

If you want to back a Libertarian, Ron Paul is the real deal.

I will be there at the rally selling the pamphlet that I recently published: War is a Racket by Smedley Butler, with the foreword by me–but I have been banned from speaking at the event.
Even though I received 16.3 percent of the vote against Pelosi in 2008 (the best anyone ever did against her), I have been banned from speaking at the event–although I was asked to speak at the after event fundraiser.

John Dennis is a good guy, but I won’t be raising money for him nor endorsing him–in my opinion and unfortunately, GOP operatives have infiltrated and ruined this event and Dennis’ campaign.

If this is the real Cindy Sheehan, you’re awesome and keep up the good work. It’s too bad that you are not speaking, but I’m glad you are tabling.

    Cindy

You have been banned from speaking at “anti-war rallies” AKA Dimbocrat pep rallies for the same reason that I have.

You tell the “peaceniks” the truth about the pro-war Democrats.

I am so proud to have your endorsement.

[Lake: just like non Dem, non Peace and Freedom Party, and non greens are kept out of San Diego County’s Balboa Park every March —— no matter how solid their anti war stance is! Even Diane Templin NOT my favorite person, is black listed. Even the Libs ——— and George Phillips and Tommy Knapp insist that they are the one and only 21st Century Peace Party. Even W. A. R. ———- well ……….]

“The Don Lake-Imperato Party endorses Nancy Pelosi ………….” ——————-well, may be Dannie Boy. Having met Diane Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, and Fancy Nancy, I have never ever supported, endorsed, or voted for any of ‘them’!

Dems or GOP, they have ruined us, and it will be that much worse for our grand children, and even worse after that ………..

Man I would have rather had this be a race between a real liberal Cindy Sheehan and a real conservative John Dennis rather than a political machine backed Nancy Peloshit and John Dennis he has no change in a such a liberal district.
