Nader urges Peace and Freedom Party Votes

http://peaceandfreedom.org/home/

Ralph Nader has conveyed his endorsement to three specific Peace and Freedom Party nominees for statewide office, and generally suggested to Californians that they vote their conscience and priorities through the Peace and Freedom Party candidates.

While he mentions Jerry Brown in his statement, he does not endorse Brown, but refers to Brown as the almost-certain winner, in order to suggest that C.T. Weber of Sacramento “would be a sagacious complement” to Brown if Weber were to be elected Lieutenant Governor.

The other candidates he mentions specifically are Dina Padilla, whom he recommends for Insurance Commissioner, stating that she would “put the law to the runaway group insurance companies,” and Robert Evans, nominee for Attorney General, who would “put the wood to the corporate crime wave against consumers and workers.”

Peace and Freedom State Executive Committee member Kevin Akin, releasing Nader’s statement, says “most Nader voters probably intended to vote for at least some Peace and Freedom Party candidates tomorrow, but it is good to have it in writing from the man himself. And we would appreciate it if the millions who considered voting for this consumer hero in 2008, but ended up voting tor someone else, went ahead and voted for their real preferences for state offices in California on Tuesday.”

For more information, contact Kevin Akin at 951-787-0318 or 951-675-2813.

Statement from Ralph Nader

“In an election year filled with censored or self-censoring Republican and Democratic Candidates, why not vote your conscience and your priorities in California through the Peace and Freedom Party’s candidates right on your ballot.

Dina Padilla as Insurance Commissioner would put the law to the runaway group insurance companies. While Bob Evans, nominee for Attorney General, will put the wood to the corporate crime wave against consumers and workers. C.T. Weber would be a sagacious complement as Lt. Governor to the introspective Jerry Brown.”

    @13

    Oh ok. Well, hopefully top two is destroyed, one way or another…

  2. paulie November 2, 2010

    But didn’t Top Two create some voter register quota, something like 100,000 voters registered to it to even be allowed to be organized? I

    No, that avenue to ballot access has always existed, and the *estimate* is that it will be 100,000. However the 2% this year still ensures retention in ’12, but low voter reg after that point will knock party lines off if they don’t do enough voter reg., as there will no longer be the 2% in a statewide race route after 2012 if we don’t win in court (or do a new initiative to repeal the abomination).

  3. A Nader endorsement=an “X” for a few names.

    A “Coalition of Seven”, eight with Gail Lightfoot [Libertarian] for US Senate, elected names for all seven seats from all 42 names on the ballot for partisan state wide offices to be elected, where the candidates themselves were asked to vote as a team using ranked voting. Seven names were elected using consecutively ranked numbers, #1, #2, #3, etc., etc.

    Hopefully the courts shoot it down as unconstitutional.

    But didn’t Top Two create some voter register quota, something like 100,000 voters registered to it to even be allowed to be organized? I hope I’m wrong there.

    @8

    As Paulie said, Greens aren’t socialists, however the two are fairly compatible, and probably should work together.

  5. paulie November 2, 2010

    @8 Greens are not a socialist party although there are some socialists in the Green Party. P & F is an explicitly socialist party.

  6. paulie November 2, 2010

    I think this may be the last time I can vote for a Peace & Freedom candidate, aren’t they after top two comes in effect going to be banned? (Since they don’t meet the registered threshold)

    If they get 2% in any statewide race this year or have enough voter reg they will still have a presidential line in 2012.

    Also there is a court case against top two.

  7. Catholic Trotskyist November 2, 2010

    Noone has still explained why Greens and Peace and Freedom can’t merge. That has hurt them a lot.

  8. tiradefaction November 2, 2010

    While I voted mostly Green, I voted for a few Peace & Freedom candidates as well. (Voted for Nader in 08)

    I think this may be the last time I can vote for a Peace & Freedom candidate, aren’t they after top two comes in effect going to be banned? (Since they don’t meet the registered threshold)

  9. Best We Can Do? [Lake] November 2, 2010

    Again, last minute of the last day. I know of forty votes personally locked away. Uncle Ralph should have issued this proclamation WEEKS AGO!

  10. Catholic Trotskyist November 2, 2010

    Ralph Nader funded Tea Party satanic Republican conspiracy to destroy Catholic Trotskyist Democratic revolution. Catholic Trotskyist revolution New world Order, can’t stop, won’t stop. With or without the House, the Senate, Presidency and the will of the intellectual majority will reign forever and forever, amen, God bless all my loyal readers.

    Starlene Rankin says they will have Howie Hawkins and Lynne Williams on the Streaming Video tonight.

    So far they are having trouble with audio.

    Starlene so far has only mentioned those two as wanting to come on the Green Party’s streaming video.

    At the National Press Club event we did Oct 14th we had many more Green Party candidates who wanted to participate. Then again it’s election night, and folks are busy and tired.
