Email from Debra Dedmon announcing her new group, Libertarians for Saving Nevada Brothels:
A perfect storm of opportunity, a win/win for women, Nevada and Libertarians…
Legalized prostitution is a hallmark of Nevada history, and, along with gaming, essential to its unique experience with personal liberty. Not legislating morality is the foundation that turned a barren desert into an oasis and throughout the decades has attracted millions of freedom seekers from all over the world.
Prohibiting the brothel industry in Nevada will not save women from exploitation or danger one iota. In fact, it will put them in far greater harms way by taking a regulated, safe avenue for sex workers and forcing them out onto the street where they risk jail, pimps and degradation.
With the Nevada economy one of the worst in the nation, it seems absurd to kill a legitimate workplace for many women, and leave them without a job. Not to mention that tourism is already down along with conventions etc. We don’t need to kill any reason that attracts people to our state and whether we like it or not, legal brothels are a huge part of Nevada’s allure.
In fact, in light of the economy, Nevadans/liberty lovers and anyone who loves why sin city got its name, should be pushing for legalized brothels or better yet decriminalizing sex work in Clark County.
Save women, save Sin City, boost the economy and let legislators know that they cannot control what consenting adults do with their bodies.
What happens in Nevada stays in Nevada, and that includes our sex workers…
