California: Green and AIP Team Up For Legalization of Marijuana

It is not very often that you see a member of the Green Party partner with a member of a far-right party like the American Independent Party in government. However, that is just what happened at a meeting of the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors. A couple of days ago former Congressman and Green Party Supervisor Dan Hamburg joined with American Independent Party member and Supervisor John Pinches in opposition to a vote concerning involving federal intelligence agencies and monitoring of growth of marijuana illegally on public lands.

Dan Hamburg is a former Democratic Congressman and former Green candidate for Governor of California. John Pinches is a heretofore unknown member of the American Independent Party, but is serving as a Supervisor for Mendocino County until 2015.

Update: The American Independent Party supervisor has re-registered as an independent as per his email to me.

Dude. You’re so behind the times it’s pathetic.

How about this one: “Confederate and Yankee get together and drink a beer”.

Geez, are we in the 1800s? Man, what a freak!

Cool to see an elected Green Party member and an elected American Independent Party (or at least former AIP and current independent) member working together on a pro-liberty issue.

This is subtle, but I’d say the title is technically correct. “Green and AIP team up” refers to a member of each party, which is correct. “Greens and AIP team up” would refer to the parties themselves, which is incorrect.
